Kate's POV:
It's 19:12, everyone should be here by now. And yet, I find myself waiting around like a puppy for her to show up. Something is not right, she should be here. This isn't fashionably late, this is late late. And, even if I've only known her for less than a day, I know she doesn't like being in the spotlight. I have to go find her. But how do I leave unnoticed? I know who'll know! An assassin. Yelena wouldn't help me to bug me, Natasha might, worth a shot."You okay there?" A soft-spoken voice brings me out of my woolgathering.
"Huh? Oh, Natasha. You scared me there," I chuckle nervously. At least it wasn't Wanda.
"Sorry. Am I that scary?" Natasha jokes.
"No, not at all. But while I have you, could you help me with something?" I request.
"Of course, I'll help. To get out here unnoticed you'll have to haggle with somebody to get them to provoke a ruckus. Then you get out of there. If I was you I'd bargain with Vision to steal Mjölnir and you can go "look for it". That's your best bet. But you have to be quick and sneaky. I'll help if you want, I gotta slip out of this party for a jiffy," Natasha kindly describes in a whisper tone.
"How'd you know that's what I was gonna ask?" I query nervously.
"I'm a trained assassin/spy, I know. D'you want the help or not?" Natasha cuts to the point.
"Right, yes, please. How do we get Vision to do that though?" I check. Natasha drifts her eyes to the side like she's looking for something. Her eyes then snap back to mine, renewing our intense eye contact.
"Wanda. Say it'll impress Wanda. He'd do anything for her. It's sad, Wanda likes someone else," Natasha explains the plan in more detail.
"Who does she like?" I ask interestedly.
"Not the time for P5 girl gossip. And even if it was, Wanda hasn't told anyone and I don't wish you go all spy on her," Natasha dismisses me. Right. It makes sense.
"Okay. Another question, why do you need to sneak off?"
"I can ask you the same thing. I'm sneaking off to call my girlfriend, she said she'd be here, I assume Fury needed her, but I must check. Why do you?" Natasha cocks an eyebrow at me.
"Somewhat the same. But not a girlfriend. And I'm not calling her," I explain.
"You want her to be your girlfriend?" Natasha tilts her head to the side.
"I, uh, no. No, no. Platonic friends," I feel my cheeks begin to flush. "Let's start the plan, eh?"
"Okay," Natasha chuckles. We walk over to Vision and explain what "Wanda was saying to us".
"You think she'd be relatively impressed if I concealed Thor's hammer. Okay! Anything for her, my sweetheart," Vision dreams of Wanda. Damn, this is sad.
Vision walks off and not long later a search group is started. As everyone is looking Natasha and I sneak out. "As easy as that!" Natasha smiles proudly.
"To be honest with you, I didn't expect us to triumph. But I'm glad we did." Natasha and I high five.
"Now I better get going. Bye, world's greatest archer." Before I can reply Natasha disappears. She is a good assassin and spy.
I run around the compound like a headless chicken until I stop at her door. I put my ear against it and I hear heavy and laboured puffs and sniffles. I lightly knock on the door but I hear no reply. "Y/n... Can I come in?" She still makes no reply. "I'm coming in..." I take a deep breath and open the door.
She is curled up into a ball on the floor. The carpet around her is drowning from her tears. I rush over to her and hold her up so she's facing me. "Y/n, Y/n, Y/n, darling!" I panic, "what's happening?"
Suddenly it clicks into my brain. She's having a panic attack! "Okay, focus on your senses. Come on, tell me, what can you feel?"
"I...I can... feel the fuzzy... carpet..." She stutters out through her sobs.
"Great! What can you see?" Probably nothing threw your tears, but it's worth a shot.
"N...nothing!" She cries out loudly.
"Right. What can you smell?" I inquire.
"Your perfume," she mumbles.
"Okay, perfect. You're doing great!" I hold her tighter into my chest. "Just great." I start stroking her hair and just talking about random stuff. "And that's how I got my dog. Thank you for letting me bring him here, Lucky is very grateful." By now she is way calmer and is just listening to my voice.
"Thank you..." She whispers.
"Anytime. Can I ask, what triggered it?"
"The...the crowd. I have severe social anxiety. Ironic that I'm the captain, huh? But when I heard everyone talking and laughing, I broke. Thank you. But could you not tell anyone about this?" She requests shyly.
"Of course! Don't worry. What if we go down there together? We can just talk," I offer.
"I...I'd like that," she gives me a half fake, half genuine smile. It pains me so much to see her like this.
"I have another question, sorry. Who's Natashas girlfriend? She had to rush off and never told me," I ask nervously.
"Maria Hill. You'll become quite bored of her, we speak to her every day," she chuckles causing me to laugh. Suddenly, I pick her up and she starts squirming and laughing, "put me down!" She demands.
"Let's go and I'll put you down!" I chuckle.
"Okay! Okay! Just put me down!"She laughs. I pop her down and she gives me a death glare.
"Shit. Sorry. Friends?" I let out a dry chuckle.
"Fine. Only cause you helped me," she sighs. I hug her tightly and then walk out of the room.
We approach downstairs and it is quieter than before, thankfully. We walk downstairs and it's only the team, but someone new is there. Who's that.
"Hey, we were wondering when you'd show up," Clint beams at us.
"Sorry," Y/n apologizes. She seems more confident now, that's good. "Oh, hey, Maria. I never knew you were here." That's Maria!
"Yeah, I was a tad late, my awesome girlfriend got so worried. Cause she loves me," Maria teases Natasha.
"Good to know you never change, Hill," Y/n chuckles taking a seat next to me.
"Why don't we play a game now?" Tony requests in a winning voice.
"Fine, Stark. What game?" Steve gives in to the annoying habits of the billionaire playboy who's sitting in front of us.
"I have a few games in mind," Tony gives a devilish smile. What's his plan?
