Y/N's POV:
Kate and I chat until J.A.R.V.I.S. calls her down. We walk down together.
As we reach the jet, Kate stops and turns around.
"I'll miss you," she states as she pulls me in for a warm embrace.
"Likewise. How long did Director Fury say you'd be gone for?"
"I'll arrive back tomorrow at about 10 am," Kate explains.
"I'll see you then... Bye... Kate."
"Bye... Y/n..."
Kate slowly pulls out and we both linger until we let go of each other.
I wave her off and watch as she flies away.
I've to admit, I like Kate. A lot. She's not like...her... Kate is different. I trust her.
I know!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's 9 am when I wake up, screaming my head off. I start panting rapidly and I feel the walls closing in.
Not again...
Tears fill my eyes.
My vision blurs.
My whole body goes numb.
The door bursts open.
"Y/N!" I hear a voice say.
By now, I've stopped screaming. I'm just curled up in a ball, crying.
They come closer to me and hold me tightly, stroking my hair.
I finally calm down and realise, I have no clue who I'm with. I look up. Peter?
"T-thank you," I sniffle.
"Don't thank me. You needed someone, I'll be your someone any day," Peter reassures me.
"You're a good friend, Pete. Tha-," I stop myself.
Peter chuckles lightly, "it's okay. Say it."
"Thank you," I mumble.
"Can I ask what triggered this?" Peter requests.
"It's nothing. I always have nightmares. Every night. Don't worry about me," I assure him.
"Okay. Do you want to hang out today?" Peter proposes.
"I can't, sorry. I'm busy," I apologise.
"With what?"
Fuck. Asking the hottest women out? I can't say that. "Avenger stuff. You know, paperwork and whatnot."
"Okay. I'll talk to you later then. Bye," Peter stands up with a sigh. Is he sad?
"Bye."
With that, Peter leaves.
I bounce out of bed and grab a pen and paper.
Kate's POV:
I arrive back at the compound. Thankfully, no one got hurt.
I walk out and scan around the premises.
Oh... I was kind of hoping Y/n would be here for me.
I clamber up to my room and am greeted by Lucky jumping up onto me.
"Hiya, boy! Are you excited to see me?" I say in a high-pitched voice.
I cuddle him for a second until I notice a note stuck to his nose.
"What's this you got?"
I take it off and read:
Dear, Kate,
We only met a few weeks ago, and you've already made such an impression on me. And I intend to act on it. I've never been one for the gooey, romantic stuff, but you make me that gooey, romantic person I never knew I could be. If you're up to meeting with me, all you have to do is go to your balcony.
From Y/n.
Is this real?
Is it finally happening?
"Thank you, Lucky."
I go to the doors.
Shit, it's pouring.
She isn't there...
I go to my window and open it. I slightly stick my head out.
"Y/n?" I yell over the rain.
"Kate! Kate, get down here!" She shouts back.
She's holding a rose and a box of chocolates.
"It's pouring. You come up here," I laugh.
"No, no! You have to come down here, Kate! I made it rain!"
"Okay. I'm coming down," I give in.
I shut the window and turn around. Before I leave, I grab my jacket and purse.
I open the door and-.
Y/n?
She grabs my face and pulls me in for a kiss. I melt into it.
She pulls out and rests her head on mine.
I pull her into the room and shut the door.
"Kate..." She begins. "I've never been a confident person. Before I met you, I'd never dreamed of making the first move, but here I am. You change me, Kate."
"In a good way?"
"Definitely in a good way. I don't normally make the first move, but there's no way in hell that I'm letting you go. So, with that, Kate Bishop, will you go on a date with me?"
"Oh, my god, Y/n! Of course, I will. You're so amazing. Now, I have to ask, how'd you do all of this?" I inquire, curious about the crazy answer I may get.
"It all formed when you left for the mission... I let myself comprehend how much I want you and I thought about doing the letter with Lucky. I wrote the note to make you feel inquisitive so you would have to come to see me. I went to the shop to buy the chocolates and flowers, you're welcome. I just had to make it more romantic, what's more romantic than rain? The problem was it was as dry as a raisin outside. I searched up 'how to do a rain dance?', and everything came flooding in. I picked the most effective one and went to the roof. I danced for about an hour, and there it was, rain. So, I ran back here, gave Lucky the note, and waited for your return."
"You're so sweet... That's so sweet... You're amazing... I can't wait for the date," I beam brightly at her. She's the best thing to ever happen to me.
"When are you free? I want to go on it as soon as possible," she checks.
"I'll be tired tomorrow, but the day after that? In two days?" I request.
"Perfect. I'll pick you up at 6," she grins.
"Thank you." I go up to her and hug her tightly.
"For what?" She chuckles nervously.
"For letting me be the first person you fully trusted after..." I stop myself, I shouldn't have said that.
"It's okay," she hugs me tighter.
We talk for the rest of the night until we fall asleep in each other's arms.
