Justin's P.O.V.

It's been two hours and my parents still haven't come home yet. Where could they possibly be? Selena and I sit in the living room, on the couch, silent. I'm not sure what to tell her of the whole situation, it all happened too fast and was a bit vague. Her mother did burst into our house just when my parents were going to lecture me this morning about my mistake.

This morning was also extremely intense. Ryan thinks that I just instantly want to go and fight and do reckless shit night and day. No, this is a fucking process situation. Although, I disagreed to going and fighting Joe, I couldn't help myself once he brought up Selena.

According to Ryan, he was 'spitting dirt about my girl'. She isn't my girl but people think she is. And as long as they think she's my girl I have to acknowledge her as if she were. I can't let no guy run his mouth about her. Everyone is going to think i'm the same wuss pants I was a week ago.

Plus, that piece of ass doesn't know a damned thing about Selena, nor of Demi. The fact that people talk about her as though they know her infuriates me. Selena can make up all kinds of excuses and say she doesn't care what people say, but I know she does. And I know what people say sometimes hurts her. If I can try and prevent her hurt, why wouldn't I?

Ryan told me the nonsense Joe was saying about Demi. That's Selena's best friend and I won't let anyone talk bad about her neither. Plus, Demi is my teacher. She's teaching me about the streets and how to flirt with Selena. Considering I'm already under house arrest, I have so much more to learn. I would ask Selena but I frankly don't want to look stupid around her.

I still don't know why Selena went with her mother. Maybe I should ask her, or is that being nosy? She'll probably tell me it's none of my business. I slowly turn to glance at her on the couch next to me. She stares down at the floor, almost emotionless, seeming to be concentrating on something real hard. She looks cute like that: all confused. I'm usually the one confused and lost.

"What are you thinking about so hard?" I ask.

She quickly turns her head at me looking alarmed and lost. "What?"

"What are you thinking of?"

"Dat dick!" Ryan shouts, walking into view and throwing his body across the other couch.

Selena rolls her eyes at him. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Excuse mawa?! This is my brother from another mother, can you say the same?" he asks her but i'm certain that's not a question.

"This is supposedly my boyfriend," she shot back.

I turned to Ryan with raised eyebrows.

He fakes a gasp. "Justin, do you see how she talks to me?!"

"Well. . . She can talk to you however she wants," I laugh with uncertainty.

Selena laughed directly at Ryan, sticking her tounge at him. "Suck it!"

"Wow," he shook his head at me faking disappoint. "What happened to bros before hoes?!"

"What motherfucker?!" Selena swung her hand right onto the back of his head.

"She ain't no hoe bro," I tell him sternly.

She shoots me a soft smile. I love her soft smiles. They're like hot chocolate on a Christmas morning. Sweet and warm. I realize my thoughts and shake my head. Girls don't like when you compare them to hot chocolate.

Or do they?

"I feel the love in here." Ryan scoffs.

"You should hoe," she glares at him.
