Justin's P.O.V.
"Justin, can you please pass me the potatoes?" Lucy asks me sweetly.
I past her the bowl with a smile. As she grabs it our hands touch and she caresses over my hand. She winks at me and grabs the bowl. I don't get it. . . did she not really want the potatoes, was it a joke? Selena coughs loudly and slightly jumps up as she does.
"Ow!" Lucy winces and glares at Selena. "You kicked me."
"I'm sorry, it was an accident. I must be catching a cold." Selena smiles.
I know her fake smiles and that was definitely one of them.
"Ha its alright," Lucy giggles.
This was a bad idea. My parents invited Lucy's family over for dinner. Lucky Lenser is a girl my age, who is very involved in my church. Her family participates in the church almost as much as my family does. Her mother, father, and brother are also here. Her brother, Adam, is only a year older than us and is an odd guy. He gives off an unpleasant vibe, like you need to be cautious around him.
My mother breaks the tense air, "So, Lucy, I heard you were looking into colleges? How pleasant. Justin has been looking into colleges since he was in elementary school. But I suppose its never to late to start, right?"
Selena shoots me a confused but ecstatic look. I shake my head. This is what I meant. I can pretty much predict what Lucky's mother is gonna say next. And the bragging begins.
"Lucy will have a full ride to UCLA once she graduates with a high SAT score. They are already counting her in." Lucy's mother, Yessica, says with a fake smile.
"That is really good for her. Oh, but Harvard is already looking towards Justin as soon as he's done with the SAT's as well." My mother brags.
Yessica's mouth falls open and she is suddenly speechless.
"Harvard?!" Lucy grins at me. "You didn't tell me you wer-"
"They really call out people so soon?" Selena cuts off Lucy. "That's weird." She has a confused look on her face as she pokes at her peas.
"Selena, don't be rude. Lucy didn't finish what she was saying," my mother scolds Selena.
"Mrs.Bieber its totally fine. I understand how people who aren't brought up right tend to act." Lucy reassures my mother.
Wait. . . people who aren't brought up right? Woah, that's beyond rude. I understand that Selena isn't the nicest or smartest person in the world. But for Lucy to think that she even has the right to try and judge Selena is insane. She nor anyone in this room knows what Selena has been through. Even thought it does not excuse for her behavior on a daily basis, we are deal with things differently.
The reason Lucy and her family first showed up at the church was because of problems of their own. They were practically homeless. They had lost their way and hope and came to the church to regain it. The Lord showed them the way through their sorrows. Now they are happy and stable.
Lucy was much like Selena when I meet her, except for appearances and status. Lucy has straight blonde hair, blue eyes, and fairly thin lips. As where, Selena has curly brunette hair, brown eyes and plump lips which are soft and amazing when they are against min-- wait stop thinking like that at a thing like this.
I look at Selena and see anger in her eyes. Oh, no. I'm just going to sit back and mind my own business.
"You think just because you're a wannabe rich and holy mother fucking bless bitch that you have the right to fucking talk that way about me!? You are way stupider than you look." Selena laughs while shaking her head.
