chapter 43

i enjoyed every day i didn't have to go to school , it felt so much better to just stay home with ashtray.
but after more than a week , i have to go back. my wound was now better , almost healed although it was still very sore.

fezco now makes sure to pick me up and take me to school everyday , he's worried those two guys could show back up. but i don't really like that idea since if they do show back up and see me get into fezco car they could follow us home .. and well you know. i just don't want them to get hurt or get into trouble because of me , or my dad.

ashtray didn't like that i had to go back to school either , he thinks i'm not ready to walk on my own and stuff , but i am.

"one more day fez." ashtray protested , all three of us sitting in the school parking lot.

"ash , i'll be fine." i told him truthfully.

he groaned , turning around in in seat and looking at the school.

i took this as my chance to open the car door before he could tell me to stay in the car for the fourth time.

"i'll see y'all later." i told both of them , closing the door only for ashtray to grab my hand before i could walk away.

"ash , im gonna be late." i sighed.

he rolled his eyes , rolling down his window more.
"text me if anything happens , i'll make sure this fucker come gets you." he glared at fez , making me laugh but nod as "i will."

"okay , bye." i said to them again , getting a wave from fezco in return.

waking in school everyone turned to look at me , their eyes going wide as if they were shocked i showed up.

"she's back."
"what do you think happened ?"

people immediately whispering to each other made me regret getting out of the car in the first place.

"mar! holy shit." i looked up to see maddy and the rest of her friend group , cassie , kat , bb , and lexi.
usually lexi isn't with them but maybe she came over when she saw me.

"where the fuck have you been?" kat asked , looking directly in my eyes.

i opened my mouth to say something but was cut off my then talking again. "did something happen? we looked for you all week."

"i thought you just ditched for a week." bb shrugged.

cassie stayed silent the whole time , looking around the halls.

i smiled at bb , she's funny.
"uhh , no. i got stabbed."

i chuckled afterwards finding a little funny how i said that plainly , but them widening their eyes made me stop. "but i'm fine now."

"wait , you're serious?"
"holy shit."
"by who?"

bb , kat and maddy talking all at same time was making me getting nervous , they talked way too loud and people started to look over at us.

"can you show us?" bb asked  , receiving a look from lexi.

but nonetheless i raised up my shirt a little bit , showing the scar i had.

"oh my god." i guess they didn't really believe me until now , but i understand because i wouldn't either.

after telling them i was fine and answering the questions they asked me , they walked off going to their classes. well except for lexi.

"are you sure you're okay?" she asked me , walking next to me in the hall.

"yeah." i gave her a reassuring smile.

"okay.. by the way , who did it?" she seemed almost scared to ask the question.

"um.." i started , being cut off by her. "you don't have to answer that."

"no , i just don't really know who the guy was." i shrugged , never getting a name from either of the guys. all i knew was they wanted money from my dead dad.

"okay. well i gotta go but i'll see later , okay?" she gave me one last look , still staying by my side.

"okay." she said before walking off , leaving me alone.

after a long day of annoying teachers , a lot of teenagers , stares and judgmental looks from brielles friend group , schools over.

walking out to the parking lot i was met with fezco , parked directly in front of the school.

i smiled walking up to the car , getting in the back seat as ashtray was in the front seat.

"how was school?" fezco asked , receiving a laugh from me as he sounded like some kinda parent.

"it was okay." i answered , giving them both a nod when they looked at me.

i looked out of the window , seeing the road where i made the mistake of getting even close to those guys car.

i guess ashtray noticed my face , because he turned fully around. "you good?"

i smiled at him , letting him know i was fine. "yeah."

but honestly i felt stupid , it was so obvious the moment i walked up to the car it would've ended up bad. i should've ran or did anything other than listen to them.

but i guess it's too late to think about the choices i could've made.
