High school au, they're in their senior year, so around 17/18 years old
My character: Virgil
Y/c: 💔 (any side, Emile and Remy, ocs welcome)
Triggers: rejection, potential negative self talk, abusive past, I'm not sure what else-
Virgil and 💔 have liked each other for a while now, having developed feelings for each other over summer break. Everybody knew and kept saying how cute the two would be together, but they both just brushed it off and continued to dance around each other, unsure of how to go about anything. The small problem was, every time he and 💔 started to get close, Virgil would distance himself again. Nobody ever understood why.. It was Valentine's Day, and 💔 had finally gathered the courage to ask Virgil out. 💔 held a single red rose and walked up to Virgil with a hesitant smile before school started. "Um- hey, Virgil.." they said softly, holding out the rose. "You know this by now, but I've liked you for a while now, and I was wondering if you wanted to be my boyfriend..?" Virgil looked up to 💔 and his eyes betrayed the smallest glimmer of hope. Despite this, he averted his eyes and shook his head. "I'm so so sorry, but I- I can't..." Without giving 💔 a chance to speak, he turned around and quickly walked down the hall, away from everybody who watched in shock. He couldn't stand to see the hurt in 💔's expression.
Nobody knew how badly Virgil wanted to say yes, but he couldn't... He'd been hurt and left heartbroken too many times, he didn't want to risk that happening again.
