Warnings: idk. Feeling left out? Self hate and pity. I think that's it.
My character: Remus

Remus always felt second best. Ever since elementary school, he thought he could have something that his brother didn't, but no. They just had to both be accepted into their little select choir. He always tried his hardest, but he never got one solo, never got even nominated for choir president, never got any recognition even though he knew what he was singing and nobody else did.
Soon they were in middle school and it was the same thing. Roman's schedule had one extra slot in it because one of the classes got removed, so he chose choir, the one place Remus had that Roman didn't. It was the same thing over and over again.
Roman was the star student. Roman was special and got to put his name on the wall. Roman was the teacher's favorite. Roman got all of the solos and Remus got nothing. No recognition, not even comments on how he could somehow be better. The one time he got to sing in front of people the entire time he was in middle school was with Roman. They both wanted the same thing and Roman got it. Remus only got to sing with him because "he tried so hard" and the teacher felt bad.
High school. Roman and Remus both joined the freshman choir and Roman was the only one to be allowed into the special, elite chamber choir, even though Remus worked just as hard. Every time the teacher talked to him, it was about how amazing Roman was. How special and talented he was.
The next year, they both auditioned for the school musical. Of course Roman got a lead, Remus wasn't surprised about that anymore. What he was so frustrated about was that he was put in the ensemble with no special lines while his ex best friend Dakota got to sing and get the special attention. Dakota who was loud and obnoxious and couldn't even sing in key, Dakota who sang so loud that he drowned out the music and threw everybody around him off in the ensemble numbers, Dakota who bragged about how amazing he was and how special he had been because he got voice lessons when not everybody could afford them, not everybody could get them.
Of course, Remus was happy for him. He was just so jealous because nothing he did was ever good enough. He practiced and rehearsed and tried and tried and tried and it was /never/ good enough. It was probably because of how annoying he personally could be, how he always tried to get some kind of attention by being loud and making strange comments because that was the only way he could get people to listen. Remus always told everybody that it was okay, he didn't want a lead role or a solo anyways because this was his first show, his first time doing a full performance that wasn't some silly middle school concert. It was all a lie. He tried to get something but he always fell short. Maybe that's what all led to this: a tear rolling down Remus' cheek as the art was put up on the wall.
His art never went up in the hall outside of the art classroom because it was too dark and twisted, but for some reason, this felt like a stab to the heart. He never cried, not even when his ex friend cussed and shouted at him because he was being so vague and timid about something (this something was coming out as gay. Yeah, not a good friend). Remus swiped the tear away with the back of his hand and sat back down next to 🎶, hiding his face in his arms as he felt his lower lip begin to tremble. He wasn't crying. He couldn't cry right now, not in front of everybody... He didn't need their judgmental stares for something stupid like this.
This can be romantic or platonic, but the main character you play can't be Roman because it just doesn't fit with the plot. Thank you!
