~ Chapter Two ~

Sakura's POV:

It has been exactly a week since I celebrated my nineteenth birthday, and it has been five days since I left the village to complete a mission. When I Turned Sixteen I began to take on solo S-rank missions as an Anbu. I rarely get teamed up with other Anbu's, but this mission was one of those rare occasions.

Two days after my birthday celebration I was back on the job. Tsunade-Sama assigned me as team captain for this mission. My team consisted of three other fellows Anbu members, Sai, and I. Sai and I were the ones with the longest experience in the team and Tsunade-Sama believed it was a great choice of members since this mission required us to rescue the granddaughter of the feudal lord, who was kidnapped a week ago while she was making her way to the cloud village.

Thankfully, the mission was a success and she was in our possession. We were able to eliminate the nin who had captured her and we retrieved her safely. All in the course of five days, we were finally making our way back to the village. I ordered my team to camp in the woods for tonight since we are traveling with someone who is not used to traveling for long hours nonstop. We set up camp near a small lake and I had two Anbu keep her company as they set up camp and two more who were assigned to check out the area and set up traps around our campsite. Meanwhile, I was by the lake cleaning my blood-stained katana.

I felt the familiar chakra of my long-time teammate appear behind me. " I heard you wanted to keep watch for tonight ? " he asked me. " That's right. One sleepless night will not do me much harm " I responded as I began to dry my katana. " will it be okay if I join you? " asked Sai. I turned around to face him as I put my katana away. " I don't mind, but make sure we have enough snacks for the night " I said to him with a smile. He pulled out a plastic bag and held it out " give me a little more credit Sakura, I'm not new at this " he said to me with a smile. " I know. let's head back " I said to him as we both began to walk back to the campsite.

When we arrived at the campsite everyone began to say their goodnight and soon enough the rest of our members and the client had gone to sleep. Sai and I sat on top of a thick branch of a tree that overlooked the campsite but also gave us a great view of the surrounding area. We were both having our late dinner which was rice balls filled with spicy tuna inside. " So how are the wedding preparations coming along? " He asked me as he took a bite of his rice ball. " Honestly, it is very stressful but very exciting at the same time. Thankfully it'll all be over in two months " I answered him as I continued to scarf down my food. " This was nice. I'm glad I got to have one final mission with you again. The last time this happened was about five years ago when we were fifteen " He said as he continued to eat. " Yeah, it was nice. It brought back memories of the old times when it was just us two while Naruto was away training with Jiraya " I answered him. " Make sure you don't forget about us " He said to me.

Since I was going to be marrying Gaara, the Kazekage of Suna, I had to move away from the village. I will be leaving my life behind at the leaf and will need to settle down in Suna. " I will and you guys need to also visit me often " I said to him with a smile. " We will " He replied " It's hard knowing that in just two months I will be leaving behind my life at the leaf village and will be starting a new life at Suna. It is bitter-sweet " I said to him. " No matter what happens we will always have your back and you will always be welcome back with open arms " He said to me. I smiled at him and gave him a hug. " Thank you... Thanks to you my life took a turn for the better. You took part in making me the Kunoichi I am today. Thanks to you I also found this amazing job that I enjoy doing " I said to him with a smile. He pat the top of my head and smiled.
