Chapter 9: Papa's Defection

    "Ryoko, we have to leave today." Papa beckoned me to come towards him with a gesture of his finger.

I obliged making my way over to him. "Yes, Papa. But what about Kujira?"

Papa waved his hand. "Your beloved brother will be fine, I need you to stay close to Papa okay?"

I nodded. Papa's lab felt cold, there was a feeling of trepidation in the air. I started to wonder what was going to happen. Papa had me stay in the corner of the room on a chair as he was finishing up any of his preparations when the door was blasted open by Lord Third and a few Anbu members. I was shocked, what was the purpose of so many people coming after my father. Whatever it was that he did, I needed to be by his side. I needed to protect him. Quickly I lept to my feet from my perch on a small stool.

"What are you going to do? Kill me Sarutobi-sensei...?" Papa called out to Lord Third.

My eyes widened. I didn't know that Lord Third taught Papa, either way, whatever they had between the two of them would have to be settled by them. I needed to handle the Anbu that were supporting Lord Third. I weaved my hands to make the signs for my water scythe jutsu. The large scythe made of pure water formed in my hands, I charged in the direction of the two Anbu members, I wasn't chosen to be a part of the Anbu and I supposed it was because of my ability. However, if Lord Danzo appointed me to be in his Foundation, I figured I stood a chance.

"This is despicable you've even brought your daughter into this as well." Lord Third protested. He weaved his hands and struck the ground. "Summoning Jutsu." He called as a Great Monkey king was summoned from his realm.

That wasn't my fight, that was for Father to handle. I needed to take care of the two Anbu members. Swiftly, I began to spar with the two of them, trying to watch my own back as they were both attacking simultaneously. While the weapon was large, since the day I trained with Minato and my previous team, I had been honing my skills in wielding weapons. Especially weapons that I cast with a jutsu, however, this was not going to be sustainable for long my ability to use water-style greatly depended on my terrain. This fight was fought in Papa's lab so unless one of the vessels were to be broken I was at a disadvantage. The Anbu members had been trained for years to assassinate. It wasn't long before I realized I was out of my league. But, I needed to continue for Papa. I had to support him. My father was no criminal and I wouldn't let him be viewed as one. I darted towards the Cat-masked Anbu member with my scythe using the same technique I used on my sensei years ago, turning the water into a mist to impair his vision. On top of this Papa had summoned a jutsu to create a shockwave blasted not only towards Lord Third but the Anbu members I was sparring against as well.
"My angel, come along," Papa called out to me.

I used this diversion to give me the chance to follow Papa out of the lab. As soon as we got outside the lab we were confronted by Kakashi. My heart sank. No way... I was gonna have to fight my friend and the man I gave my heart to. His lighting blade was charged up and he bolted straight for my father. Remembering my objective, I quickly weave hand signs to counter his attack.

"Water-style giant ball-in-chain jutsu," I called out, the appearance of an oversized spiked ball formed right in front of me shielding the attack from myself and Papa.

Kakashi realized he would have been penetrated by one of the sharp spikes so he withdrew his attack.

"Ryoko. What are you doing?" Kakashi called out to me.

"Protecting my father." I retorted.

"He's the one that was continuing those experiments, he's the reason why there had been people going missing. Can't you see that? "

"My father would never do anything like that. I won't buy any of your lies, Kakashi."

"Very good, Ryoko," Papa called out to me as he struck Kakashi, cracking his Anbu mask to reveal his face.
