~~~Ryoko Minashigo~~~
The heat was aggressively attacking us at this point as the sun was reaching its pinnacle. We were staring in the face of imminent death. All we had to do was make it to the Sand village in three days. Who would have thought our obstacle would find us so soon. I raised my scythe high in the air prepared to go head to head with the samurai from the Land of Iron. Lord Hiruzen's words echoed in my ears; Fight with the intent to kill. I had to believe I could kill the samurai in order to win or even be allowed to pass through. Maybe they would back off if I actually put up a good enough fight. Iruka, Ebisu and Mizuki were trailing behind me. I darted toward one of the samurai. Our blades collided. The sound of clanging iron rang in my ears. The Samurai was a lot stronger than me. I was a bit taken aback by the clear divide in strength. The two of us clash for a bit. I switch to being strickly defensive in order to prolong my life. Iruka comes up behind me trying to support me. The two of us tried to fight off the samurai but it really wasn't working in our favor. With the two of us, it didn't give us an advantage over him but it did help to level the playing field. The Samurai was taunting us telling us to give up, that it would all be over quickly if we just died. Neither of us was going to back down from the fight. Iruka managed to create an opening for me so I launched toward the samurai with my scythe managing to push past him. I weaved my hands together to cast a jutsu.
"Water-style, water prison jutsu," I called as imprisonment of water was cast around the samurai giving us trouble. "Iruka, Ebisu, Mizuki let's go!" I shouted now that we had an opening, this was the time for us to make our way to the Sand Village quickly. The three of them started rushing after me, but the samurai was able to escape my prison. The samurai grabbed hold of Ebisu. I grit my teeth. Dammit. "Iruka, Mizuki keep going we'll catch up."
"But, Ryoko we have to stick together as a team." Iruka protested.
"I know but it's not gonna do us any good if we all get killed. Go! I got him." I shouted, darting back towards the Samurai and Ebisu.
I thought to myself about how much danger I was not only putting myself in by Ebisu too. Had I just continued on by myself I wouldn't have brought anyone else down with me. wasn't Ebisu was trying his hardest to fend off the samurai. But the samurai wasn't giving him any room to cast a jutsu. This means I can either separate Ebisu from the samurai myself or create an opening for him to cast his own jutsu. I still had my scythe in my hand. That's when I realized what I could do.
"Ebisu, I'm gonna create an opening. When I do use a fireball jutsu on my jutsu."
Ebisu nodded, as he was clashing with the samurai. His kunai clashed with his sword. I knew he wasn't going to last very long before the samurai managed to defeat him. There was a small opening as the samurai was beginning to swing his finishing blow to Ebisu when I rushed in I blocked the attack with the water scythe. Ebisu darted backwards to get enough clearance in order to cast his jutsu. I dropped the scythe and weaved my hands.
"Water-style, water mist jutsu." From the scythe into a thick vapor mist. I shouted. "Ebisu, now."
Ebisu weaved his hand and cast his attack. "Fire-style, fireball jutsu." The fire from his mouth mixed with the water vapor in the air to sear and boil anything it touches. Luckily for us, it managed to make contact with the samurai.
I whistled for Yukinne and grabbed Ebisu's hand. Yukinne swooped down, and the two of us hopped onto her back swiftly.
"Woah, that was pretty good Ryoko." Ebisu complimented me, as he was trying to catch his breath.
I drew in a deep breath to soothe my beating heart. "Thanks, but it wouldn't have been possible without you. Now, let's make it to the Sand village."
The first night none of us would have anticipated the bitter cold that came with the desert. We were doing what we could to rest in the frigidity that was the night. The following day went off thankfully, without a hitch. Mizuki continued to stay distant from the team. I have never met anyone that held a grudge for as long as he was holding one against me. You would have thought I did something to him with how he treated me. But it didn't matter once I made it to the finals I would no longer have to worry about this man any more. Regardless, the reason for me taking these exams is to one day be Naruto's sensei. This was my goal and I wouldn't let anything stand in the way of that. During our travels, the three of us started getting closer to each other. We talked about our dreams, what we would do once we made chunin and a little bit about our families. At least what anyone was prepared to properly share. At one point the journey didn't seem so bad. We had started to enjoy each other's company, all except Mizuki. Before we knew it we had finally made it to the Sand village!
