Seventeen Imagines.

Like the ocean waves.

Between the strong wind and ocean waves, there sit a lady with beautiful long auburn hair on the hard rock while watching the peaceful full moon. The moon is beautiful but more than that, the lady finds the sound of the ocean waves more beautiful. She move her head along with the rhythm of the ocean sound. It's clear that she loves it more than anything. But when she was about to go back where she should, she heard some voice that made her stop, a beautiful voice that was singing.

'Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you.
And everything you do,
Yeah~ they were all shiny~~'

The sweet voice that was singing in middle of the quiet late night, who could that be? Being curious about the sound, she jumped down in the water and swam while following the voice. The nearer she got, the more beautiful the voice sounded. Never she thought that she will heard another sound she love just like the ocean waves.

She stopped swimming when she saw a figure on the shore, it was a man. She made sure not to be seen by hiding behind a huge rock. Her heart fluttered at the voice and also at the alluring face of the man who was singing while staring up at the starry sky. His luminous eyes, sharp nose, perfect lips, overall angelic face but what she loves the most is his euphonious voice. Without intention, a huge smile was on her face and again without any intention, she slowly started swimming towards him.

The voice stopped and a frown appeared on her face, that's when she realized that she was very much near the land. While panicking she hurriedly turned around and was about to swim back where she belongs but....,"Don't go!!". She stopped, the voice was the same. She didn't swim away but she hid under the water and watch the man who called. She wasn't sure if he saw her figure fully. "Please don't go. I saw you, you don't have to hide. Please come out, I swear I won't freak out.", he said.

Why did he said that he won't freak out? Because she wasn't an individual one would expect, she wasn't a human to begin with at the first place. She have a beautiful lovely face of a young lady, whilst from the waist down, she have fins and a spreading tail. She was a mermaid with auburn hair.

The man started walking nearer and nearer while saying somethings which she can't understand. In fact, she never understood it from the beginning but the voice was very captivating that halted her. She know that she should swim away but wasn't doing it. The man itself was enough to made her stop.

When he noticed that she wasn't swimming away, a smile appears on his face. Meanwhile, when the mermaid saw the sweet expression on his face, she didn't move a muscle. Instead, she came out of the water exposing the upper half of her body. "Wow...", the man gasped, "you are beautiful. I had always noticed you from afar but never thought you'll be this beautiful.", he said. The mermaid had no idea what he was talking about but she believed that it wasn't bad things. He sat on the huge rock where she was hiding while she stayed in the water floating.

He looked at her with admiring eyes, he wasn't horrified at all. She didn't  expect it for that was not what their kinds' belief about humen. "My grandfather always told me about your kind, but I never believed him.....not until I saw you few months ago. You always come out at this hour, am I right?", he asked but she didn't said anything, she only looked at him while blinking swifly. "Oh- ?.... You can't understand? I- then--....", he stopped talking when suddenly she held out her right hand. He looked at it for a while as he wasn't sure what that supposed to mean, but he put his right hand on hers without hesitation. That shows how much he trust her and that he wasn't scared of her.

She closed her eyes when he put his hand, she stayed like that for few moments. Soon, she let go and opened her eyes. When she did that, a huge smile was on her face. "Your smile is beautiful.", he complimented, "Thank you.", she spoke which made his eyes widened with surprise. "YOU CAN SPEAK!!??", He yelled and she nodded. "How??", "I touched your hand.", that's all she said while smiling.
"Touched my hand......", he murmured while looking at his hand, "....but how?", "I learned from you.", "Huh??", she laughed at his reaction. "I know all the words you know.", she said. "But how-...", he was about to asked more but stopped, "ahhh that must be something only you can do.", he said and she nodded.
