"Don't go outside."

"You should hide."

"Don't let people see you, Vernon."

"Hide!"

"Hide!"

Hide.

That's what my parents told me till the moment they passed away.

Why must I hide?

It's because of my brown hair and brown eyes.

I live in a very rigorous society full of black-haired and black eyes people. The people here believe that people with brown hair or brown eyes are oath of bad lucks. And they are very devoted to their beliefs.

Hence why I never go outside. I live alone in this huge castle, alone; hiding from the whole world because I'm scared, scared of the circumstances that will happen when I showed myself to the people of this currish society.

I took a deep breath in and stared at the flowery view of the garden. Different kinds of beautiful flowers everywhere but my brown eyes settled on the uncommon plant, the dandelions. The plant has a rosette of leaves at the base of the plant; a deep taproot; a smooth hollow stem; leaves that may be nearly smooth-margined and a solitary  ball-shaped cluster of many small, tufted, one-seeded fruits.

As I was zoning out while staring at them, I heard a voice of someone giggling. I turned around and there was she, sitting on the squatty wall. A smile crept on my face seeing her which she couldn't see because of the witless mask I was wearing.

"Do you like them too?", she asked but didn't wait for my answer and continued, "I like them a lot! You know why?", she said and I shook my head.

She smiled and jumped down from the wall, "Because.....", her slim fingers plugged one of the dandelions, "....there's a beautiful legend about them. Wanna know that?", she said and plugged another one.

I didn't say anything and continued listening to her, "It says that  if you can blow all the seeds off a dandelion with a single breath, then the person you love will love you back.", she said and gave me one of the dandelion she was holding. "So, try blowing it!!"

I stared at the white flower in her hand, unable to do what she was saying, because I was afraid to see the result when I blow it. I'm not loved by anyone and I know that. Also I was certain that the one I love won't love me back, never. "I don't want to.....you do it.", I denied and asked her instead to do it.

"I was going to anyway.", she said while chuckling. Then, she inhaled sharply while her big black doe eyes closed, she blew it and.....it all seeded off. "Wow!!", she gasped when she finally saw the result. "They love me back!!", she exclaimed happily and my heart sank.

"W-Who is it? The one you wished for?", I asked.

"Ummm....I don't know.", she said and laughed.

"Huh?"

"I don't know him.", saying that, she stopped laughing, "I don't even know his face.", and she stared at me.

The air heated up as both of us stared at each other, "Why are you wearing that mask?", she uttered suddenly making me taken aback, "Why do you always wear it?"

She asked it again and I couldn't think of an answer again.

"Please....can you tell me the reason?"
