N E V A E H ✼

The shadow emerged from the dark and I have to say he is a sight for sore eyes. I don't think Rory was exaggerating when she called him out, because damn. I assume by the ghastly, almost pale look on her face that this person, was in fact, Eddie. She looked like she had seen a ghost. Her cheeks reddened as her eyes widened.

My very wild guess is that she is in shock.

But like I said, it's a very  wild guess so I could be wrong.

He had dark brown eyes that reminded me of tree bark- or dog shit, I don't know which one yet, that will probably be determined when he opens his mouth to speak. He had curly jet black hair that lay perfectly on his head as a few strands hung from his tanned skin. Eddie could be mistaken for a model with his sharp cheekbones and jawline and his somewhat perfect aquiline nose.

Rory and I were probably both staring and drooling like fucking idiots and I'm sure Eddie picked that up because a smile graced his pink lips and showed off his glorious white teeth. Why is everyone in this house so damn hot?

He chuckled before he spoke. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume you're talking about me." He assumed, leaning his one hand on the wall beside Rory and the other in his pocket. He had a thick Spanish accent which seemed to lure Rory in like a moth to a flame.

She could try hiding it all she wanted, but the look in her still proved that she felt something for him despite the fact that she denied it and tried to push him away. "Well, you're wrong." Rory corrected, not so confidently.

His brown eyes darted to her in fake realization and surprise. "Oh, Aurora! It's a pleasure to see you here. I didn't even know you were in Italy." He needs to take like five Masterclasses in acting because what is this.

Rory rolled her eyes and built up the courage to face him. "Oh, Eduardo! It's not a pleasure to see you here. Can you go back to the hole you came out from?" She needs like 10 of those classes, too.

Okay. I'm just gonna stand here and act like I'm not even here. I think I see why they all call him Eddie.

He chuckled again, his chest heaving up and down as his black collared shirt clung to his skin. "I would, but I'm pretty sure I can't go back into my mom's vagina, amor."

How could she not be in love with him. He has the smile, the laugh, the body, and the humor. And she didn't even have to search hard at all because he's probably been right in front of her for a long ass time, seeing that he works for her brother.

"Don't call me that." Rory said abruptly and looked as if she could kill him with her intense gaze.

Eddie removed his hands from his pocket and crossed them in front of him. "You don't get to be the asshole. You-"

Before he could say anything further, I jump in. "Hey, hi, hello. I don't mean to interrupt your conversation here, but as much as I love free entertainment, and trust me I live for drama. We have some shopping to do and I'm trying to hurt someone's wallet. So can we, like...go?"

"Of course," Eddie smiles stiffly at me and nods. "Follow me, ladies." He leads us down the hallway and we walk further and further away from Atticus' office and for a moment I can swear that I see his little bunnies standing or sitting- whatever the fuck they do besides hate on me- and they're just staring me down. Almost ensuring that I'm out of their sight before they can rest easy.

I fucking hate animals now.

I never did anything wrong to them though. They started this whole war by chasing me down the hallway while I've done nothing but ignore their whole existence. Hell, I didn't even know they existed until they were fucking chasing me.

I know I look like a snack, so they probably misread that message and must have mistaken me for food. No biggie, happens all the time.

I spare a look at Rory who is currently glaring Eddie down so hard that I'm surprised he hasn't turned around and looked at her to ask what her problem was. I think I can figure it out though. I mean, of course I'm not a therapist or a mind reader, but I think I can understand her emotions.

She is going through the stages of regret. And of course, the first stage of regret is regret. So I think seeing Eddie today, remembering how good he looks, remembering his smile, and remembering the way he looked at her and the names he called her- made her regret. Regret pushing him away, regret not loving him the way he always loved her.

I don't even realize when we make it to the car garage and we sit in one of the many cars left on the display. I was just so focused on figuring Rory out. I climb into the backseat of the car as Eddie holds the door open for us.

"I never caught your name." Eddie offers while Rory just stands there waiting for him to move so she can sit down.

Sensing her urgency, I felt there was no need to prolong this conversation. "Good, let's keep it that way."

I think he knew what I was trying to do and what Rory wanted so he just leaned onto the car door. "You know what?" He yawned and outstretched his arms. "I'll call you Goldilocks."

"No, wait. That won't work," Eddie argues as he puts a finger to his chin as if he is actually thinking about it. "I think Medusa would work because your hair is curly and it kinda looks like snakes and your eyes look really scary right now." He mentions, gesturing at my eyes which were currently deadly staring at him right now.

Eddie crosses his legs in front of him and toys with his watch while whistling and acting as if he has no where to go right about now. "Call me crazy but you look like you want to kill me. Or you're going to, I can't determine which one yet."

"You are crazy and I am going to kill you if she doesn't." Rory finally speaks up. I must say she is patient for waiting that long for him to move. "Now go so I can sit down."

Eddie puts his hands up defensively, acting offended. "Gee, I was just trying to be nice." He walked over to the driver's side and opened the door. "I thought you liked it when I opened the door for you." Before anyone could say something further he sat down and started the car.

"Wait, asshole! I haven't even sat down yet!" Rory shouted, immediately closing the door as soon as Eddie started zooming out of the driveway.

"Oh, I'm sorry. The way you were speaking made me think you were in a rush so that's why I hurried up. If I was going too fast you could have just said that." Eddie called back sarcastically, while the guards opened up the gate for him as he flashed his ID at them.

"Well, maybe if you told me before you started driving, we wouldn't even be having this conversation."

Am I the only one starting to think that this isn't about driving the car anymore?

Yeah?

Okay.

Eddie looked at her through the rear view mirror and she stared back at him. "I'm pretty sure if I told you, you wouldn't have gotten in the car."

"You're damn right, I wouldn't have."

And for the duration of the car ride to whatever store we were going to, the car was filled with silence. Quiet, unbearable, awkward, painstaking silence.

I couldn't take it anymore. "Can you play some Nicki Minaj please?"
