“ Wake up ! ”

“ Wake up ! ”

“ WAKE UP ! ”

Alexei had lost count of the number of times he had crowed like a rooster the only exception in this case, the rooster was on duty after every thirty minutes.

He munched a banana then tossed groundnuts in his mouth until his hand grabbed air on the white saucer. Alexei's right leg jerked and bounced in anxiety that greatly overwhelmed his impatience.

Would they really wake up ?

He questioned for a silent moment and as if to answer his question, his friend,  Mark groaned - the first sound apart from his irritating snore in fourty eight hours.

A new hope.

He stared at his fellow co-workers, they soundly slept.

Valentina Smirnov kicked about on the small bed in the chamber forcing Alexei to fix her covers every hour or so.

Mark groaned again and Alexei could feel his face easily breaking into a grin when his one and only true friend popped an eye open, sat up then popped another eye open.

“ I see you had a good sleep, ” Alexei greeted.

A pair of red eyes shifted and focused on Alexei and after a minute of perception, “ Couldn't wake me up for lunch, I'm so hungry I could swallow this spanner ”

He longingly stared at the spanner for emphasis.

Alexei decided to break the news to him while reaching out for a bag of canned food, “ You were out for two days mate ! ”

“ What ? ” Mark's wild eyes were bewildered then he muttered something like these strange dreams that caught Alexei's attention.

“ This is not a dream, ”

“ Well I hope so, ” he said, hurriedly biting off a bun Alexei threw at him, “ Water ? ”

Alexei filled a glass and handed one to him.

“ At this point , I'm not really certain whether I'm dreaming or not but I think I'll go with the latter, ”

Alexei stared at his friend in puzzlement, his brows furrowed and he almost blamed liquor for Mark's words taking into account his friend's infamous rendezvous in bars during most evenings.

“ How could you say so when you're clearly eating and feeling the food get into your gut  ? ”

Mark took a few more bites of his  bun, “ I tell you, I can't explain it everything felt so real as it is. The only thing I'm relying on is the fact that nothing here has been on repeat as the events in my dream, ”

“ You mean to tell me that all the while you've only dreamt of one recurring dream ? ”

“ Mh - mhm ! ” He furiously nodded with the last remains of the bun in his mouth.

“ They recurred so fast, it was almost a blur. I couldn't even point out where it started recurring at... It was like being thrown in the middle of a rotating circle where you clearly cannot tell the  end from the beginning, ”

Alexei's brows shot up at the revelation, studying the wild look in Mark's eyes.

“ It was all familiar, too”

Mark and Alexei jumped at the new voice, to find it was Roy the witter  who was wide awake in his overalls staring at the two with the same wild look in his eyes.

At least two are awake. Alexei thought.

“ You two look like hell, ”

“ Better in another world, ”

“ Better in a deja Vu situation, ” Roy muttered and Mark mouthed an involuntary “ O ”

An obvious evidence of the puzzles falling in place in his brain.

“ The events were familiar because - ”

“ We had actually lived through them,” Both Mark and Roy finished.

Mark impressed at the discovery and Roy staring at his surroundings and Alexei quizzically.

“ The only problem is, why were they on repeat ? ” Mark questioned.

Alexei glared at the two, “ Will the two of you explain to me exactly what you mean ?”

“ First , what are we doing at the refuge chamber ? ” Roy asked.

“ I dragged you here, ”

Alexei's black eyes darkened to emphasize, “ There's something in the air. ”
