Bang !

Scratch !

Rip !

“ Aaaaargh ! ”

Chin - Hae screamed agitated, his fingers gripping tightly his scalp.

It had been over twenty four hours and his blood shot eyes blinked, roamed about the office frustratedly.

This was the first time in his history that he could sleep. The thought made his lean but strong palm land hard against the black desk, an expensive vase toppling over, rolling to the edge and onto the floor in bits and pieces.

Impossible! .

“ The damn gas ! ” He muttered, cursed then kicked a stool as he paced about which resulted in a painful hiss from the blinding pain at his ankle.

He almost cried, when the restless shuffling from outside the door coupled together with his frustration.

He was scared, angry and lonely.

Surely, there was someone out there who was awake as he was ?

The thought made him grab at his phone, refreshing his social media feed - pain at his ankle soon forgotten.

After a few furious attempts, going through old news, Chin - Hae sighed and gave up, slumping on his chair in defeat.

His state of mind would never allow him to dream let alone sleep.

Chin - Hae would have to leave the health facility.

The thought made him slowly leave his chair and peer outside the door.

He stared at his patients warily, some pranced around obviously in a sleep induced dance, many snored and twisted in very odd, disturbing positions on the floor and one nibbled at a patient's ear, he slammed the door.

The gas had fueled their insane behavior and Chin-Hae shuddered when he tried to imagine the strange dreams they had.

He crossed over to the  maroon bean bag in his office and lay against it, a futile attempt again, shutting his eyes and ignoring the rumbles of his stomach.

Five minutes...

Seven minutes...

Nine minutes...  A bang ! Against the door

Eleven minutes...

Fifteen minutes... A howl from outside the door.

Twenty minutes...

“ Oh C’mon ! ” Chin - Hae yelled.

He would have to go home, be in a serene state of mind to trigger his lucid dreaming if at all he could sleep.
