"Are you ready for me to ring them?" Mason shouted to me from his living room where he was sitting on his large sofa in front of the TV. I was in the kitchen as I'd come in to get us both a bottle of water out of the fridge. The Sunday afternoon match between Manchester United and Aston Villa had just finished and he had cooked the two of us some chicken and vegetable pasta at half time. It was delicious but it turns out that Tammy was right and its about the only thing he's able to make for himself. "Yeah course I'm just coming back in now" I shouted through to him as I picked the two bottles up off the counter.

Mason then mute the TV that was still showing the post match commentary using the remote before he placed it back on the coffee table as I went and sat down next to him. "Thank you" he said to me as I passed him one of the water bottles and he took a few sips from it before opening the FaceTime app on his phone. My heart was beating so rapidly in my chest I'm surprised Mason couldn't hear it. "Mase I'm really nervous" I said to him. "Don't worry" he replied looking into my eyes. "I just want them to like me" I said looking down at my hands. He reached across and held my hand before saying "they'll love you like I do" and kissing me gently.

He moved his hand out of mine and placed it on my thigh rubbing it softly while he pressed his dad's name. It rang for a few seconds before I saw Mason's dad's face appear on the screen. "Hey you alright mate? Oh congratulations on the win yesterday I know I text you but I wanted to say it to your face too" Tony said to his youngest son with a wide smile. It's clear where Mason got his big smiles from. "Hiya dad yeah I'm really good and thank you I really appreciate that I would've rang you last night like normal but I ended up going to Dec's" he replied as he moved his hand off my thigh so he could wave down the screen before he put it back and smiled.

He constantly made sure he was the only person in frame as he wanted to reveal me later as a surprise. Mason continued to talk about yesterday's match including mentioning Declan. Tony knew him as if he was another son as the two of them had been friends since they were so young. As the two of them talked I watched the silent television as they were showing highlights from all the matches that had taken place this weekend. "Is mum there?" he asked suddenly making me turn and look at him. Oh no. He's going to be bringing me into the conversation soon. "Yeah she's upstairs we've not long got in from Sunday lunch with Lewis" his dad replied.

I looked at Mason's face as he'd mentioned spending time with his brother. He's always mentioning to me how much he misses them so to hear that they're spending time with his siblings must hurt. I know how he feels as my parents and siblings live far away too and I rarely get to see them. "You'll have to come up and visit soon and we can all go out for a meal or something" Mason suggested. The two of them started discussing details surrounding them coming up to visit. Mason was constantly checking his calendar as his parents wanted to be able to tie it in with a match day as they hadn't seen their son play for a while.

Mason's mum had joined the call part way through the discussions and after saying 'hi' to her son they began to mention me. "Was your goal celebration yesterday directed at anyone in particular?" Tony asked his son. "Was there someone special in the crowd?" Debbie asked after while smiling. "Yeah I guess there might have been" Mason replied as he turned to look at me and smiled while putting his arm around me and turning slightly red. "Speaking of there's someone I want you both to meet that means a lot to me" he added before starting to slowly tilt his phone. As my face appeared on the screen Mason's parents both gasped.

"I'd like you both to meet my girlfriend" Mason said smiling at me while moving his phone so that the two of us would both fit in the picture. "Oh wow Amelia it's so lovely to meet you" Tony said to me as I waved at them down the screen. "It's so nice to finally get to put a beautiful face to a name Mason's been mentioning so much" Debbie added as she smiled at me. I laughed before saying "it's so nice to meet you too Mason literally talks about you two all the time. I was so nervous to meet you". "Oh don't be silly we're not scary" Debbie said before adding "are we?" making me and Mason laugh.

The four of us continued to talk together for a while with the two of them making me agree that the next time they come up to visit Mason I'll go out to dinner with them so they can meet me in person. They also questioned us about how we got together and laughed when Mason told them that I kicked a ball at his head the first time we met at Cobham.
