"Willow! Look!" I pointed to the supermarket. She followed my gaze-or finger- and smiled. However, we both know this is going to be harder than we thought. Zombies are cornering us, climbing the walls, even if there are less than before, there's still a lot.
Willow and I swat at them with our weapons, and I have an idea. If they react to noise better then sight, which I can assume over the shriek, them not seeing us when we climbed this roof, and other encounters. They rely on noise, rely on sound, which means...
I grabbed a rock after taking a swing at another zombie. I looked at Willow, grabbed her arm, and threw the rock down on the ground. Zombies swarmed around the sound, instead of us. Lucky, sure, but not the smartest decision based off of an educated guess. I stared at them.
They snorted and grunted around the area, making wet squelching sounds as they stepped. One growled, something more inhuman than it already was. I looked at Willow.
"Let's go," she mouthed.
"How? They're all over the ground!" I made sure to be quieter than quiet, but I needed to get my point across with words.
Willow paused, thinking. "We should use something to get across the rooftops. Jumping would get us killed. But what should we use?" She paced around quietly, muttering to herself at the lowest volume possibly. Then her eyes lit up.
"We need to go look for a rope or a ladder. There has to be one somewhere..." I shook my head. We both knew it meant going down there, with all the things. Our only option...was to walk. On the ground. With all the zombie-things. I looked at Willow, and she looked at me. I nodded. She frowned.
"Look. We don't have a choice. It's live or die, we're stuck here, and they can't hear us very well," I whispered to her. "We have to, whether you like it or not...and I have an idea."
Five minutes later, after a small bit of debating, a plan, and a seemingly long trip down the ladder, we were on the ground, with armfuls of rocks in case of an emergency. Zombies were grunting and walking/crawling in the streets, the stores, and other places.
I looked at Willow. She looked at me. And then we stepped into the street.
