Fight or flight.
That's how the saying goes. We tried our best, although fighting against the literal UNDEAD can be harder than it looks. Running to the exit before dying isn't a bad idea, at least to me. At the count of one, I looked at Willow, and sprinted to the fire exit. I smacked a few undead things, their heads and eyes getting thrown off.
I still feel guilty, even if they're undead. Willow looks at me, I look at her, and we both push the exit doors open. There aren't as many undead things, but they still roam around. Willow nudges me, and motions to the ladder leading to the roof.
"Good idea," I mouth. She's so smart, I think. I wish I could be with this girl, this lovely, lovely girl...
"You coming?" She's careful not to go above the smallest whisper. I nod, following her. We climb up the ladder, thanking God that this thing wasn't rusty, or creaky.
The sight of being above everything is amazing. I would recommend trying it when you are not in the middle of death, an apocalypse, or when you are running for your life with the most beautiful- anyways, it is an amazing sight.
"Wow, isn't it amazing Ivory?" Willow sighed, happy, and probably relieved to not be dead.
"It is, Willow. It really is." Almost as beautiful as you, I thought but did not add.
"Yeah," she sighed, again. It wasn't sad, just in awe. And I agreed that this, this, was a beautiful scene. No matter what. And then I looked down. Undead things fill the streets, and shadows move through the windows and the corners of our eyes. Bodies are littered among the sidewalks, dead things running to them and ripping the skin off.
"Willow. Look at that. We should leave, right now," I tell her. And she looks. She stumbles back. She lets out a small shriek. It's not small enough, though. The things below twist their heads entirely backwards, making a horrible cracking, yet also wet, sound. They open their mouths in a huge smile. They let out a shrill shrieking sound, more horrifying than I can describe,
And
they
start
climbing.
