❝Lift your head (Y/N), ❞ he said smoothly.
You looked up to see him staring down at you with a slight smirk.
❝Are you sure you're not starting something you can't finish?❞

It was not a fluke.
His feelings did not go away.
A couple of weeks passed and Kibutsuji could still catch himself thinking about you. It was the fact that you stopped visiting him on Mondays that drove him over the edge. Especially, since he'd grown so used to it during the last five years.
He cared that you were over him. He actually cared.
Perhaps it was the sense of familiarity that he craved, or maybe it was because he realized there was another side of you that appealed to him.
Who was that woman?
The woman whose hair was down when she treated him, whose voice was calm and gentle, soothing like nothing he'd never heard before. The woman whose scent drove him over the edge and whose smile caused him to smile back for the first time in years.
He was interested in that woman.
He wanted access to that woman.
He gave a sigh of frustration as his white cat came strolling over to comfort him. He held her silently as his mind wandered in circles.
Kibutsuji's eyes darkened as he thought. A unique reoccurring quality that was exclusive to him was beginning to rear its ugly head.
The truth was when Kibutsuji desired something he really had to have it. He didn't care what it took, even if it took many many years he wouldn't rest until it was under his possession.
He was beginning to desire you and so he had to know if he truly wanted you or not.
He ordered a servant inside.
"I need to write a letter," he said.
::
You were standing up looking in the mirror as the servants around you brushed your hair vigorously.
They were preparing you to meet another suitor. Your father had arranged for you to meet another man.
You were being dressed, your body and appearance being in peak position to meet your new suitor.
Each and every time your father made you do this you felt as if you were being auctioned off. You were like a present being advertised before a big sale, you had to look shiny and appetizing to the male gaze.
It wasn't an enjoyable feeling. The noblewoman knew, the servant girls, your lady-in-waitings, everyone except the ball of testosterone that was your father.
Speaking of the devil, he burst into the room without knocking. The doors were violently yanked open.
"How's my daughter doing?!"
You cringed at his booming voice. Why was he yelling?
You spoke politely, "I'm quite alright. What about you?"
"I'm well! I'm always well! But you, look at you! For once you actually look decent!"
You frowned. He didn't realize that was a back-handed compliment, did he? Or perhaps he did and didn't care.
"You've finally decided to stop being an idiot and listen to my advice."
The moment you heard him call you an idiot you switched your brain off. You knew he was about to spout some nonsense.
"The man I'm setting you up with this time has a lot of money. He's in the trading business. He's up and coming. Not nowhere near as successful as the Kibutsuji but on the bright side he's not sick!"
Your father burst out laughing and you frowned.
How was that funny? How in any way was clowning a sick man humorous? At times you wondered why he had become a doctor.
"In any case-"
Suddenly the door opened. It was Nao.
She was holding a letter.
You arched your eyebrow.
"A letter?"
She nodded.
Your father suddenly turned around to see Nao and his eyes narrowed at what was in her hands.
"What the hell is that?!" his booming voice asked.
Nao bowed her head before speaking, "It's a letter my lord."
"From who?"
...
Nao hesitated a moment.
"From who?!"
"It's from Lord Kibutsuji."
His head snapped towards you, "I thought I told you to call it off."
You nodded, "I did. I told him that I didn't want to be courted anymore. I told him I was over him."
His eyebrow rose. You weren't the type to lie.
"Then why is he still—"
Your father smirked.
"He's interested in you isn't he?"
You shook your head. That wasn't possible. Someone as cold and distant as Kibutsuji wouldn't be interested in you.
"I bet he is."
He immediately opened the letter and read it silently to himself.
" He wants to see you."
Your eyebrow rose, "He does?"
He began shredding the letter, "Don't respond," he smiled evilly, " Let him suffer. That's what he gets for firing me as a doctor."
"He fired you because you almost killed him by giving him too much dosage—"
"Shut up! We don't talk about that."
You mentally rolled your eyes.
"But still, for you to actually seduce the richest man in town, you're certainly capable. That's my daughter. Next time, just make sure you seduce someone that isn't ill."
Suddenly another servant barged into the room.
"My lord," he spoke.
"What?"
"The Yuri clan's suitor is here."
You sighed as you discarded all of your brain cells. It was time to become a silicone doll again. You simply had to endure.
Your father held out his hand towards you, "Come."
You took his hand as he lead you to meet a new suitor.
