Chapter 13 | The Healing Process

Anastasia eyes began to open as rays of light began to pour into the room. She turn towards Race expecting to see him, but he was no where to be found.

Weird he was here when I fell asleep. Maybe all it was just a kiss.

A buzzing noise comes from the wooden bedside table displaying mom on the screen. Anastasia presses the green phone button.

Hi mom she says tiredly
Hi honey, how's Jack doing? I wanted to call last night but I had to get ready for a meeting.

He's seems to be doing okay. He has all these machines attached to him, bandages everywhere from having surgery.

Well I'm glad he's doing okay. And how's Margaret, Antonio, and Sean?

They are all doing okay we spent time at the hospital and then we all just came back here because Ms. Fortes has to work early.

Oh okay honey, well I emailed your teachers they should be sending your homework to you soon. I informed them you would be gone till Thursday.

Thanks mom I'll see if I have any homework.

One more thing your father and I were talking about you trying out for hockey, as they need one or two more players. You know your father would be happy if you did. I think it's time for you to get back out there.

Okay, I will think about it, Anastasia rolls her eyes.

The meeting is about to begin tell everyone I said hello, make sure to do your homework.

Love you too, Anastasia hangs up the phone as her fingers glide through her messages. She decides to send Banks a quick text.

Thanks I'll remember that 🙂

She then picks up her bookbag and walks across the room to the desk. She sits down and takes out her notebook, pen, and iPad. She logs into her school email. 4 unread emails lay there waiting. She opens the first one displays a list a sports and their tryouts dates. The second email is a message from the Dean. The third list her homework in math for the week. Anastasia opens her notebook and writes down the page and numbers she has to turn in on Thursday, and opens her textbook to page 40; and begins to read about Linear Function.

An hour later she finishes today and tomorrow's math assignments. She was always great in math and actually enjoyed it. Ding! Her phone goes off displaying a new group chat named Ducks🏅

Banks:
As you can see I've added Anastasia to the group chat.

Anastasia:
Before anyone ask Jack is okay-ish
It was a good thing he got to the
hospital when he did or it could
have been worse.
