Chapter 9 | Thank God for Lunch

After what felt like an entirety of teachers talking about syllabuses, the cliché two truths and lie, into actually teaching class Anastasia was thankful to have to go to lunch.

The only issue she had was where to sit. She searched for anyone she knew so that she wouldn't have to sit alone.

Anastasia, she heard someone shout. Anastasia scans the cafeteria searching for the familiar voice. As she turns around she locks eyes with Julie Gaffney waving her over.

Oh thank God, she walks towards Julie's table.
Hey Julie, Anastasia arrives at the table and sits down beginning to take out her lunch of an apple, a half Italian sub, and cherry water.

How were your classes? Julie ask as she opens her milk.

Great, you?
Boring besides art Anastasia bites into her apple.

Hey Julie, a guy with dirty blonde hair says as Russ, Kenny, and him sit down with their lunches.

Hey Guy, this is Anastasia. We met in the auditorium.

Oh hey, nice to meet you.
You too, Guy politely replies.

I can't believe we already have homework on the first day. A red head guy wearing glasses sits down.

Yeah if we aren't careful we are gonna learn something. Charlie adds as he sits down on the right side of Anastasia.

At the other side of cafeteria, Dean enters besides Fulton.

Hey Charlie do you know who that is? She points to the door.
Who? Charlie questions turning his head.
The guy wearing the black bandana, white sleeveless Tshirt, and holding the leather jacket.
Oh that's Portman why?

Hey guys Adam sits down.

He called me babe when I was headed to Art.
Adam overhears this as his smile disappears.
The same thing happened to Julie.
Julie overhears her name. What happened to me?
Portman called you babe. Charlie answers
Oh yeah he's kinda a big flirt, not as big as Luis who is currently under the cheerleaders table.
The guys at the table laugh as the girls roll their eyes.

Portman and Fulton sit at the table. Portman locks eyes with Anastasia and smiles.
Anastasia rolls her eyes, take a picture it would last longer.
Babe I was just making sure you didn't fall don't flatter yourself.
Her name's Anastasia not babe, Adam quickly defends.

Adam begins trying to change the subject as Luis sits down so these are all the Ducks. Captain Conway, Charlie or as we call him Spazway he points to Charlie. Julie Gaffney are goalie, Goldberg are other goalie, Averman, Kenny, Russ Anastasia takes a mental picture as her eyes to each person.

Then there's Guy Germaine, Dean Portman, Fulton Reed, Connie Monreau, Dwayne and obviously you already know me.

Hi I'm Anastasia Vlanterrin nice to meet you guys.

The girl Adam keeps talking about, Charlie coughs.

Wow so you're actually nice, Dean smirks.

Yeah to the people that don't call me babe before they even ask me my name. Adam chuckles.

You have something to say Banks. Portman turns to him glaring.

Maybe you shouldn't flirt with everything that breathes.

That's Luis, Russ says. Everyone laughs, so true Connie says.

Everyone finishes their lunch as they talk amongst eachother.

Adam turns to Anastasia. So I was wondering if I could maybe have your number...,he looks away grabbing his phone as he tries to appear less nervous, ... he looks at her just so I can add you to the group chat.

Of course let me see your phone. Anastasia begins to put her number in Adam's phone, takes a selfie and saves it. Here. She hands Adam his phone back.

You should put your number in too. Anastasia hands him her phone.

Dean subtly glances between Adam and Anastasia while talking to Fulton. Fulton gives him a knowing look.
