The front door shut, and you let out a sigh of relief.

Andy was gone.

At least, at that moment she was.

"Big Sis."

You turned around to face Tessa.

...and her face said it all.

"You were eavesdropping."

Tessa flinched and dropped her gaze to the floor. "I...you just ran off, and I didn't understand...and with how you had a...a panic episode, I was worried..." She finally met your eyes. "I didn't understand...but now I do."

You froze.

"You're scared of her. Of Andy." She seemed so sure of herself.

"I'm not."

"Y/n...yes, you are. She did something to you. I know she did." Tessa took a step closer to you.

Now it was your turn to flinch. You weren't ready for this. Not after everything that had happened.

Tessa smiled softly. "Big Sis, you can tell me. If she's doing something to you, hurting you in any way, I can help you. I'm always on your side, remember?"

"She's not hurting me. She's my best friend." If you were Tessa, you wouldn't believe your own words. They were too stiff. Too rehearsed. Too fake.

"Y/n..." It was her pitying eyes that broke you.

Her gaze felt patronizing.

It felt like she was your older sister and not the other way around.

You felt vulnerable, and you fucking hated it.

Your face went blank. "Don't act like you know me. You may be my sister by blood, but you sure as hell aren't my friend, so don't pretend you are."

The hurt in her eyes would have crushed you to pieces if you stayed, so you turned around and left the house.

You shut the door in her face one last time.
