Inside his mind:
A giant, roaring fire loomed over him. There were devils there. They weren't cute figures with horns and tails. They looked like badly drawn sketches made by children. Totally asymmetrical. Figures with three heads, four heads, and five.
What they shouted was:
You disappointment.
You failure.
You leech on the skin of everyone who loves you.
You murderer.
He felt as though he was falling into a deep pit and then the temperature dropped as if he walked into a freezer.
He could see his own body as if one twin were floating above it and the other was forcing himself upon Adelina.
