...

I sat on the top of a ancient high-rise, thinking of my pitiful legacy as a hero.

The darkness of night was enveloping me making me just a silhouette, barely illuminated by the street lights and 24/hr gas stations. Even with the busy city beneath me and it's countless inhabitants I couldn't separate myself from how cold and alone I felt up here. The bad air felt painfully intoxicating at the top of a building, the late-night sounds of the city and consistent crimes made for a somber track as I pondered my worth.

I felt like all my surroundings combined to make a badly sung ballad, aptly titled Gotham City.

"Ahem."

I tensed up and quickly turned to the annoyingly familiar voice.

"Wayne." I confirmed as I stared into absolute nothingness.

"Are you going to apologize?" The void said back.

"Did you expect one?" My attention turned to a random scuffle between highschool students. "I- was venting my anger. That's all I will admit to."

Dead silence. Except for what I could barely make out of a disappointed face.

He didn't prepare for an actual conversation it seems. I unconsciously let out a heavy sigh as I softly leaped off the building and maneuvered my way onto the grody floor. Once I hit the pavement I made my way towards the petty argument between classmates. Seeing as this is the despicable Gotham, petty fights like usually always ended up causing issues that no one wanted later on.

So I'm preventing the next Joker, definitely not trying to find excuses to stay away from rich boy.

...

After another hour of stopping irrelevant crimes I finally made my way to the Titans towers. Even if Robin was here I could just ignore him, hopefully. The door felt so very loud as I softly pushed it open even though it was modernized to the point of being futuristic.

The air was very still in the tower, which made me assume that everyone was either asleep or I had just interrupted something. The absence of light in most of the rooms told me it was most likely the more favorable option. I quickly closed the door and let it lock as soon as I heard the chunky click, I scrambled up the stairs till I made it to the dormitory floor.

I tiptoed as quietly as humanly possible past the doors of my teammates. I could hear soft giggles and chatter coming from Starfires room and I stopped for a second to see if they were talking about what happened earlier today.

"Seriously? You have to be joking." A monotone uncaring voice seemed to forcibly spit out.

"It is not a lie. I would love to be taught the proper earth procedure for cooking." A more cheery mildly robotic tone responded.

The smallest of smiles crept itself on my face, at least they didn't seem to be upset with me. I easily made the final stretch to my room which was only a door away. I closed my door shut before flopping into my comfortable bed.

It seems I successfully avoided Robin(mostly) and everyone else, now I just had to do that for the rest of my life. As I was getting up to take a shower and change, I felt a particularly soft ball of fluff underneath me.
