The luck-luck fruit. A fruit of life or death; good or bad; laughs or cries; hope or despair; either/or. The use of this fruit is nothing but pure and utter random luck. This fruit isn't fair on any level, but those who risk their lives and their loved ones for the luck-luck fruit... take a gamble on every action they take for the rest of their life.
I was the one who took that gamble.
"Hey, (Y/n)! Why don't you take a bite out of that fruit? We just found it about an hour ago, especially for you!" My captain would say, dramatically bowing in unison with our crew. "But that's the luck-luck fruit, captain. I don't want to take a gamble and put us all in danger." "But the luck we've had so far has been incredible! We've gone through thick and thin! Maybe we can 'take a gamble' and strengthen our luck for the next journey: the new world." I would have looked away in reluctance, trying to talk my captain and the crew out of it, but my naive self decided to look into his eyes and spat out words of determination. That was only 4 years ago.
My captains face was in complete awe when I snatched the fruit from the hardwood stump outside, stuck to the ground, along with some miniature purple and white flowers.
Eyeing my captain, I grin at him with hope, "When I bite into this fruit, just know, that this is my decision. Although this fruit doesn't have any special attack moves, only shining in pure luck, I will take the gamble. We will head to the new world and see what fate brings us!" vigorously chomping into the fruit, everybody cheered in unison. My captain had a smug grin on his face. I smiled back with great happiness.
"Any last words, (Y/n)?"
Oh shit. I zoom back into reality. Well, I wont be existing for long, anyway.
I glare down at the water from the worn wooden plank. This is how I end then, huh?
I avert my gaze towards Doflamingo. I smile with pleasure as his face was slowly getting annoyed.
"I was the one who caused the deaths of my crew... It wasn't your stupid ships that came to attack us... it was me."
His stance was still and his face was confused, mixed with anger.
"I was also the one who killed my fiancé, leaving him to perish into ash while I escaped into a life without him..." I said, staring at the sky with my arms slightly extending out, as if I were waiting for someone to come hug me.
Steadily lowering my head to focus on Doflamingo, my eyes watering and cheeks already wet, I move my left leg off from the plank, slightly wobbling from the unsteady balance.
"Well, for last words, I hope you get your answer." I said smiling, showing rows of teeth. The last thing I saw before letting myself flop into the cold and dangerous water was Doflamingo's arm extending, like if he were trying to grab me from an impossible distance.
I felt a cold rush of water surge throughout my body.
I was the one who killed my loved one's with the luck-luck fruit.
It was my fault.
And I couldn't stop that random luck.
Eyes still open, I see nothing but the bright blue sky. Today would have been a good day to go outside and enjoy the water. Maybe I can join captain later.
Closing my eyes, feeling nothing but regret, I feel sharp pains of something wrapped around my wrists and ankles. Opening my eyes, I couldn't see anything, but after a while light reflected off of each point. They were strings.
I was abruptly lifted out of the water and into the air. As gushes of air fly towards my direction, my skin quickly forms goosebumps. I had my teeth chattering. Somewhat glaring at Doflamingo with my eyes half open and my whole body soaked, he gives me the familiar crescent moon smile.
"So you do possess it, don't you?" I grimace at his distasteful words.
"Yes, and what of it? You'll be in danger if you keep me on your crew. Are you going to sell me or something? Seriously, I'd rather die in regret rather than being auctioned off to some random dude- especially a celestial dragon."
Saying those last words made Doflamingo's fingers twitch, causing my wrists and ankles to tighten up. Glancing over at one of my arms, I can see trickles of blood flowing down from my wrist.
"Celestial dragons, what do you have against them...?" His voice was low and tender.
Death, that's what's next for me, yah okay. Depending on my LUCK, I'll either say the right thing or the wrong thing.
"Well, from what I've seen, I believe that celestial dragons are complete jerks who need to understand that they aren't above humans. They're humans too, I mean, them making slaves out of different races of people and getting whatever they want is so vulgar and ruthless." Pausing and looking away from Doflamingo, a slight smile spreading throughout my face, "But... there are some celestial dragons out there who can actually be so kind and caring... my fiancé was a celestial dragon, but he chose me over his status." Averting over to Doflamingo, his face was practically in awe.
"There's at least one out of many celestial dragons who would do that." Scratching his head, he opens his mouth, nothing but silence fills the air. "I know most celestial dragon were raised to be ruthless at a young age, and I can't blame them. Nobody should. But it's still so horrible, witnessing how dangerous and powerful they can be." I said, tilting my head while staring at him.
A loud exasperated groan escapes from his mouth. "Fine!" He said, having his arms in a jazz hands position.
I felt the sharp pain fade away from where the strings were. I look down, still seeing water, quickly looking up to glare at Doflamingo, quickly plummeting down into the water. It was like a cartoon. Already submerged into the water, I felt like I could hear him laughing historically on deck.
Bastard
Feeling the sharp pain return, now settled around my waist, I feel my whole body pulling up to the surface.
Gasping for air, now on the plank, I crawl myself on deck.
"Fufufu~ might I say, that was hilarious."
Still having my knees and arms on the wooden floor, I glare up at him with anger. "Not funny. At. All."
Moving his wrists around in circles, he steps over to me and crouches down to my level, "So... how about we both have some dinner? I've heard that our trip to the island will be planned for tomorrow."
"What- I want to know what you're going to do with me." "I'll answer your questions during dinner"
"What will we be having?" I said as I knitted my eyebrows.
"Hmmhmm... it'll be a surprised for the both of us."
As I sigh, frustrated, he gently takes both of my hands into his, "Don't worry, I'll make sure that the food isn't poisoned."
