Loki's POV

    Midgardian life was tedious.

    Also very melodramatic.

    And Loki was so bored.

His own father, Odin, had banished her and now Loki was forced along with Thor to babysit his brother's Midgardian pets.

Somehow they had multiplied in numbers.

Loki wasn't interested in learning their names, much less making "friends" with them.

They were all annoying and superficial.

At least he had his own room.

Although it was a fraction of the size of his room back on Asgard.

Why didn't his father ever listen to him?

Loki had explained how he had been controlled with the mind stone, but nooo, his father banished her.

Loki hadn't wanted to hurt the Midgardians.

He didn't even want to rule. That would tie him up with responsibilities and rules and LAMENESS.

Honestly though, if someone was going to rule over all nine realms, he would be the perfect candidate.

The first thing he would do is put a damm railing on that damm bridge in Asgard.

And change entertainment from the gladiatoring and other highly dangerous sports to something with only fake blood.

    Maybe theater...

That would provide the peasants with more safe job opportunities, and Loki was fond of performing.

Loki would be beloved as a great monarch that would make the world better!

    But nooooo.

If someone had to take over his willpower and try for world domination, they should at least have a competent plan.

But they didn't, and Loki was stuck with several annoying Midgardians with short life-spans, and his brother. He wasn't sure which was worse.

    Definitely my brother.

    Ugh, Thor was so annoying.

Why can't he leave me alone?

Loki eventually had to lock himself in his room just to avoid him.

As long as possible, Loki would stay in his room, curled up in a fuzzy blanket, and ignoring his many problems.

~

"Brother!" Thor called from behind the door. "You have missed the evening meal. Please come out."

"No," Loki shouted into his blanket.

He would not come out of his room.

"Loki, you are worrying me. Will you at least come down to witness the digital play?"

    "No."

Loki didn't want anything to do with the Avengers or their primitive tech.

~

    "Sister!"

Thor always knew which pronouns to call Loki. It was something Loki greatly appreciated, even if their relationship was strained right now.

"Please come out to break your fast. You must try the delectable PopTarts."

"No, Thor." Loki didn't know what a PopTart was, and he didn't care to find out.

She didn't know which brand of witchcraft that small, curly haired girl used, but it wouldn't work on him again.

No amount of magic would influence his mood again.

Loki recognized that the small girl didn't influence her beyond making her happier, but she didn't want anyone in her head.

Anyway, Loki would not leave the room, even if marshmallows were offered.

~

"Loki?" The curly-haired girl was trying to talk to him from behind the door. Loki wondered what Thor had bribed her with. Maybe that's why Curly-hair kept trying to cheer him up.

"Thor wants me to ask you to get out of your room and off your ass."

    Loki smiled. "He said that?"

    Oh no, it's happening again.

Loki knew he was mad at Curly-hair earlier, but he found the feeling slipping away. Loki felt as though maybe things weren't all bad.

    No! Things are horrible!

    "I'm paraphrasing."

Loki fought with the part of him that wanted to be happy.

    "Stop influencing my emotions."

Curly-hair paused. "How did you know I was doing that?" Her voice was curious, surprised, and something else. Maybe fearful?

Loki felt her faint good mode disappear. Strangely, this made him feel worse than before.

Loki heard a muffled conversation outside the locked door. She wondered who else was there. Maybe the quiet, scary-looking hottie that seemed to be Curly-hair's shadow.

Maybe Loki did need to learn their names...

    Nah.

"I'm good at knowing when someone is messing with my head," Loki said irritably.

"Oh." Curly-hair seemed surprised. She was probably used to being undetected, which made sense, because Midgardians seemed so unaware of their own inner emotions. And they were not on guard against emotional manipulation; not many Midgardians ever experienced things like that.

Loki wondered why he was defending them. The stupid, idotic, short-life-spanned mortals didn't need his defence. They were doomed anyway.

Everyone of them would die after a short, meaningless life. It was sad, really.

"Sorry, I guess. I was only doing it because Thor asked me too." Loki thought he heard the girl walk away.

He didn't hear any other footsteps, but Loki had noticed that Scary-looking had eerily quiet footsteps.

A good skill that Loki also possessed.

Yeah... Loki really needed to learn the names of those Midgardians.
