THE CITY

Driving towards the city, the people in the truck were silent, it was as if the tension would build thicker if they said anything. Glenn was driving, keeping his hands firmly on the steering wheel with his eyes only watching the road although they would glance beside him every so often to check on the girl that sat in the passenger seat. She hadn't said anything since they got into the truck, stuck in her own thoughts and worries about what could be happening to Merle in the city. Isabel had been there a few times with Glenn, she knew how badly the city had fallen and she knew that his chances of survival were slim but it was better than not having a chance at all. Rick hovered next to T-Dog, both of them deciding to stare at their weapons instead of making conversation with the angry redneck that sat opposite them; whereas Daryl had spent the entire trip glaring at the people that had left his brother chained to a pipe at the top of a roof.

"He better be okay, it's my only word on the matter." Daryl eventually spoke, his eyes flittering between the two men as he watched their reactions to his words.

T-Dog didn't seem intimidated, he was sticking true to his word and owning up for the mistake that he had made, he only hoped that Merle would be there when they got to the roof. "I told you, the geeks can't get at him; the only thing that's gonna get through that door is us."

Their bodies jolted suddenly as the truck stopped moving and Glenn glanced back at them over his shoulder, he knew that it was safer to move in the city without a vehicle and for that reason, they were going to have to leave the truck behind. "We walk from here."

Hopping out of the truck, Isabel slammed the passenger side door closed and wrapped her hand around the sheath of the knife that she had been using since the apocalypse started. She knew that the others were using guns, something that she wasn't comfortable doing because she knew how skilled you needed to be to carry a weapon like that. Secretly, she had a small pistol shoved down the back of her trousers, covered by her tank top, she didn't want anyone to know about the gun that she carried, she hadn't told anyone that she had it. It was for emergencies and she would never hand it over to the raging cop in camp, she didn't trust Shane, not one bit. T-Dog pulled open the back of the truck so that he could jump out with Daryl and Rick, then they all followed Glenn down the train tracks and towards the city, carrying their weapons in front of them so that they were prepared for anything that could happen. Stopping next to a wired fence, Glenn leant down and unhooked a loose panel, helping the others through the gap before joining them.

"Merle first or the guns?" Rick asked, his eyes scanning the area and finding it void of any walkers.

Hearing the question made Daryl even angrier than he was before, narrowing his eyes at the cop and shouting at him. "Merle!"
