Dream was different from the others in the house. He didn't ask me a million questions about myself, didn't ask to see my power, and didn't have that look in his eyes like he saw me as fragile, or as weak.
He also didn't just bring me into a random room to hide me. Judging by how comfortably he grabbed a book from the shelf and plopped down into a chair, he had obviously brought me in here on purpose.
As I didn't want to get out there and possibly get caught by Phil, I hesitantly followed Dream further into the library, grabbing a random harry potter book from the shelf and walking across the room from him, sitting down into a chair and opening the book, trying my hardest to focus on the words even as all my senses fought against relaxing, begging me to fight and run.
I got through most of the chapter before the door burst open and I nearly fell from my chair as Tommy and someone I didn't know came running in.
They somehow didn't notice me as they ran for Dream and grabbed him by his wrists, dragging him up from his chair and pulling him out of the room. They didn't even look back to see if anyone was in the room while they ran away with Dream, even ignoring the way that Dream looked back, his eyes begging to be saved from the children that had grabbed him.
I let them leave and then got back onto my chair from where I had fallen off, re-opening the book to my page and continuing reading, acting as if I hadn't just watched Dream get practically kidnapped by two children.
I wasn't sure why, but as I continued reading, I could feel my anxiety lessening, and I started to relax, my imagination taking me further into the story the pages were telling me.
By the time the door was opened again, I was on the second book, reading as the characters made stupid decisions.
When the door opened this time, it was Phil who walked in, with the people I had heard earlier walking behind him.
"Ah Ranboo. Glad to see you up!" Phil said when he saw me, a kind smile on his face. I shifted uncomfortably at the feeling of everyone at the door looking at me, but I smiled at him unsurely. I still didn't trust him at all, but I was scared of what might happen if I didn't act nicely. He was both stronger and smarter than he looked. I still had to escape, but I knew that I would need to have a better plan than to escape out a window.
"Let me introduce everyone. Everyone, this is Ranboo. Ranboo, these wonderful people are Puffy, Skeppy, Bad and Schlatt"He pointed with every name he said, and they all said a quick hello except for Schlatt, which somewhat helped me put the voices I heard earlier with faces.
Puffy was the only female I had seen in this house so far if I ignored Fundy's transformation the other day. Hidden in her fluffy grey hair was random rainbow colours, along with random flowers that all seemed to be just as alive as they would be if they were still in the ground. I wonder if that had something to do with her power.
Skeppy seemed like he was like he was what inspired Tommy's energy. He was practically vibrating with energy, and the coffee in his hand probably wasn't helping very much. His brown hair had blue streaks in it that looked natural, with bright blue eyes that seemed to be looking everywhere at once. The strangest thing about him was the diamond-like thing growing from his skin. That was definitely his power. I don't think diamonds grow out of your skin normally.
I doubted Bad could fit in with normal humans. With his midnight black skin, glowing red and white eyes and long devil horns growing from his head, he looked like he was Lucifer himself. And he seemed to lean into that, with his long dark red and black cloak over a dark suit. Sharp fangs were revealed by his smile, though he didn't look carnivorous. Maybe I knew that from the muffin crumbs that were hidden between his teeth, or maybe it was just me hoping that I wouldn't lose a limb if he got hungry.
The final one there, Schlatt, seemed drunk. He wasn't even looking at me, instead focusing on the glass bottle of beer in his hand. I don't think he had spoken earlier when I had overheard them, but it was hard to tell given he hadn't said hello when they had walked in, so I didn't know what his voice sounded like. As I watched, he took another sip of his drink, messing up his brown greasy hair even more than it had been before as he tilted his head up to get the most beer as possible. When the bottle went back down, he finally looked over at me, his brown eyes taking on a slight red look as he made eye contact with me. I moved my eyes away from his, and made small notes about his suit and strange beard before looking back at Phil. While Schaltt may look like he can't do much because of how drunk he was, I knew that he wasn't someone I should anger.
"it's nice to meet you, but I just realised I left my phone in my backpack, so I should go get it" I stood from my chair, but this was the moment that my still-healing ankle decided that it wanted to give up, and I fell to the ground, my face aiming for the floor in front of me.
Somehow running across the entire room within less than a second, Bad grabbed onto me before the tip of my nose hit the ground, pulling me back up as my ankle throbbed under me.
"You shouldn't be up and walking, your ankle is still healing. Did you get down here yourself or did someone help you?" Bad asked me as he slung my arm over his shoulder. I hated when people did this with me. It didn't happen often, but I hated it every time. It made me feel weak, and bad for making people feel as if they needed to help me. But when I tried to pull away, he grabbed onto my wrist, holding it tightly so that I couldn't get away.
"I walked down here myself. It didn't hurt earlier" I said quietly as he dragged me out of the library, brushing past the other adults without saying anything.
He dragged me up to the room I was staying in, forcing me through a long lecture about how I shouldn't walk while my ankle was healing, and how I was a dumb muffin. I wasn't sure why he called me a muffin, but I got slightly more scared of him. Maybe this was him telling me that he was in fact carnivorous and would in fact eat me for lunch.
When we made it to the room where I was staying, Bad set me down on the bed, grabbing my leg and pushing my pant leg up slightly to get to my ankle. I didn't fight back as he did this, watching as he brought his right hand up and traced a line over my leg, leaving behind what looked like glowing runes.
As he did that, I felt the pain and throbbing of my ankle going away, leaving my leg feeling normal.
"I would recommend staying here for the remainder of the day, as I can't fully heal your ankle. So stay here, or it might get worse. Got it you muffin?" He asked, and I nodded surprised by how much better my ankle felt.
"And eat those muffins I left earlier. You don't weigh enough for your height"
