Pain spiked through my body. Burns covered my body as water surrounded me, pushing in on me.
I couldn't breathe, I couldn't scream, and each time I tried water dripped down my throat and nose, making everything hurt more and more.
I couldn't do it anymore.
The last thing I saw before I fainted was a pair of disappointed and annoyed blue eyes.
When I woke again, everything hurt. My skin felt dry and scratchy, and my throat burned every time I took a breath.
Gentle hands suddenly touched my face, and at first I flinched away, but their touch was gentle and kind. They ran their hands through my hair, brushing the still damp threads with their fingers.
"Stay down" They muttered "You're hurt, you idiot"
"Wasn't my fault" My throat burned when I spoke, but I didn't care much "It was them again"
"While it may not be your fault, you can still rest" Their nails got sharper and longer for just a moment, but they sighed quietly, and their nails went back to normal.
"Are you mad at me?" I asked quietly, opening my eyes slightly to look up at the person at the edge of my bed.
"Why would I be mad?" Their voice had quieted down, and their hand paused in my hair.
"You sound mad" I could barely hear my own voice.
"I'm not mad at you" She whispered "I'm mad at them. You're too young for this"
"I'm 10. I can do this" I tried to push myself up, but she grabbed the thin blanket and wrapped it tightly around me, like a straight jacket before pushing me back down on the bed.
"Go to sleep. Everything will be fine, I promise" She told me and I sighed, closing my eyes again as she continued to run her hands through my hair.
This was nice. She had always been nice to me, helping after everything they did to me. Even when she went through all this horrible stuff, sometimes worse than what happened to me, she would still be there for me, like an older sister that cared so much about you.
I didn't realise I would only see her once more after this before she was gone.
