The next morning, I walked down the stairs quietly and still half-asleep, just like yesterday. But unlike yesterday, the downstairs was filled with people.
I quietly passed most of them, getting to the kitchen quickly. I didn't go for cereal today, but took a plate of pancakes and sausages labelled for me. The only other plates there were labelled for Tommy and George. It seemed like they were still asleep.
I sat down at the table where some of the others were and started eating, only to have Wilbur, who was sitting at the head of the table holding Fundy, notice me.
"Ranboo! Good morning!" I nod at that, my mouth full of food.
"We're going shopping today if you would like to join us! We're not too far from the nearest town, and we can buy things to decorate your room!" He seemed way too energetic and way too happy for this early. Maybe it was normal for him to wake up early, since he had Fundy. I'm assuming he would sometimes be forced to wake up earlier to feed Fundy when they were a baby.
I didn't want to go, but I knew I had to. Not for things to decorate the room I was staying in, but I needed new clothes as I didn't bring many with me. I didn't expect to be here for this long. Or maybe when they weren't looking, I could grab the car keys from Wil and run before they noticed.
"I'll go" I mutter quickly before taking another bite, trying to stop a conversation from happening.
"Ok then! Be ready to leave in like an hour, as I still have to find someone to babysit Fundy for a bit" Wil looked down at the toddler on his lap, who looked up and smiled, biting at Wil's finger after Wil booped his nose. He looked like the normal Fundy, the one I saw when I first got here. If it wasn't for the bright yellow eyes that made eye contact with me when he looked over at me, I would have wondered if I had been going crazy when I saw him change the first day.
After I ate, I rushed back up the stairs, changing into nicer sweatpants and a cleaner hoodie. I had nothing else that was considered 'nice' so this would have to do until I can get something.
It would be suspicious if I took my bag with me. Meaning I had to find out what I truly needed and leave the rest.
I crouch down next to my bag, grabbing my phone, headphones and wallet. My necklace hung loosely around my neck, and I tucked it under my shirt before heading back down the stairs, joining Wil, Quackity and Sapnap from where they waited by the front door.
Wilbur smiled when he saw me, swinging the keys around in his fingers. "You ready?"
I nod and his smile grows. He yells a quick goodbye to Phil, who was sitting in the living room reading a book, and then pushed open the door, letting us out first.
The weather wasn't very good today. Stormy grey clouds filled the sky, and harsh winds rushing around me. None of the others seemed bothered.
I wonder if this was normal weather around here. If so, that's another reason I want to leave.
Turns out we weren't going in Phil's car. Instead, Wil leads us to a truck out back, the paint job chipped and scratched from the weather and the children in the house.
"Ranboo do you have a preference for riding in a truck?" Sapnap suddenly asks me and I tilt my head slightly, trying to show my confusion. "Like would you rather sit in a proper seat, or in the back" he points at what he means.
"Either work" my voice is quiet, and the wind is louder, but he still seems to hear me, nodding before climbing up into the back, offering me his hand as Quackity jumps into the front with Wil.
I take his hand and he pulls me up, pushing a tarp aside to reveal some blankets and pillows that were made to mimic seats.
I sit down on one of the piles and he takes the other, knocking on the window separating us and the inside.
Quackity opens the window, smiling "all ready out there?"
"Yep!" Sapnap says. He seems excited, and not nervous. Exact opposite of how I feel as the engine of the truck rumbles under me.
The truck starts forward with shaky lurch, and my hands fly up, gripping tightly to the side as Wil starts to drive over the uneven land. This was worse than sitting in a car.
And yet there was something peaceful about the harsh wind flying ruffling through my hair, Sapnap smiling and laughing as he talked to Quackity over the wind.
Maybe this was fine.
Or at least, that's what one tiny small bit of my mind was telling me. The rest was freaking out as I gripped tighter to the side of the truck.
It feels like it takes forever, but it probably was just an hour before we reached the nearest town. Which was a lot bigger than I thought. There was a giant mall, millions of little shops, thousands of houses and lots of people. Way too many people.
Sapnap got out of the back of the truck first, and seemed confused when I stayed close to him, unlike Wilbur and Quackity, who were running around to the first shop they wanted to go to. Sapnap wasn't angry though. Instead he grabbed my hand in his, surprising me, and smiled reassuringly up at me.
I was dragged towards the store, and then Sapnap let me go, telling me to grab some things and meet at the changing room in 5 minutes.
I couldn't get myself to talk, so I just nodded and checked my phone, getting the time quickly. He smiled before he left, and I looked around quickly, going near the back where I could see colourful shirts. None were really in my size, but I found a few I liked.
I grabbed a few, avoiding all the other people looking around. I also grabbed some pants (even harder to find in my size), and a few new hoodies. All things that I wanted to wear.
Everything seemed to be going ok. I only had a minute before I needed to head to the back, so I headed towards there, holding all my clothes in my arms.
But of course, as a 6'6 male, I wasn't going to be able to do simple things easily.
"Excuse me sir, are you going to pay for those?" a sudden voice made me jump, and I whirled around to see a lady standing there, her husband sighing next to her.
"Uh yeah. I'm just going to go find my friends and then try these on" I wasn't sure what to call Wil, Quackity and Sapnap. Friends was probably the safest, as people who are practically holding me hostage wasn't really the best response.
She narrowed her eyes, glaring at me. "Well sir, I hope you realise that you have to pay for them. Many others also have to pay for them, and we've all worked extremely hard to earn money to buy things"
I was extremely confused now "Ma'am I'm sorry but I don't think I'm following what you're saying"
"It means that I don't know how someone like you will be able to pay for all of that" Her husband was now tugging at her hand, but she pulled herself free, and rushed at me, her hand flying up to hit me, or to steal the clothes from my hands.
