I think I had fallen asleep, because by the time I woke, Oli seemed to be gone.
Slowly, I pushed myself, feeling as each of my limbs tried to lock up, each joint in pain as I sat up.
Looking around, I noticed light flooding into the semi-dark room. It came from an open door on top of a flight of stairs.
I could hear voices from down here, people whispering from the floor above. In the bed next to me, I could see Sapnap. He was asleep, and looked normal again, without the orange veins or smoke coming from his mouth each time he breathed out.
I wonder how long it has been since then. How long have I been asleep for?
With a pained grunt and slow movements, I pushed myself off of the bed I was sitting on. My legs nearly gave out immediately, but I kept myself up with a hold on the bed frame.
After a minute, my legs were slightly more used to my weight, and I pushed myself forward, leaning against the wall to keep myself up.
Quietly and slowly, I pushed myself up the stairs. When I reached the top, I peeked around the corner of the door, looking over to where the light was coming from.
I saw Wilbur and Quackity at the table, Quackity barely awake. Wilbur was talking to Puffy and Schlatt, which told me where I was.
I think Wil was scared to head back to Phil, so he came here for now, possibly knowing of Puffy's and Schlatt's basement thing.
I wondered how Oli knew where we were.
Maybe I shouldn't be here.
Maybe I should just leave. Then everybody would be safer.
I'm just a burden, and threatening everyone's lives while being here.
I thought of going back down the stairs and laying back down in that bed. Maybe pretending not to be awake yet.
But my plan was foiled by a pair of green eyes staring at me from across the room, near where Puffy was sat.
Dream raised his eyebrows at me, and beckoned me over. I sighed and slowly stepped out of the basement, nearly slipping on the floor. It appeared that they had taken off my shoes, leaving me stuck in socks against the slippery hardwood floors.
"Oh Ranboo" Wilbur immediately noticed me, waving me over.
Of course, it was at this time my legs decided to give out. My body weight shifted forward, and I fell down the stairs, my heads banging against each and every step.
Because of course they only did this after I made it up the stairs and everyone was paying attention to me.
I didn't move once I reached the bottom step, instead choosing to sit there and deal with my pain as the other yelled my name in surprise.
"Ranboo?!" I heard someone yell, and I let out a little mumble of pain and sadness as I laid there face down on the carpet stairs, in too much pain to move.
I heard someone run over and then felt the same person pull me up but under my shoulders.
"Thank you" I muttered, as Puffy slung my arm over her shoulder, helping me back up the stairs.
My legs threatened to give out on me again, but she held me up, dragging me over to the table where she set me down on one of the empty chairs.
"You doing good?" Wil asked, and I looked over at him, seeing the bags under his eyes as he sipped on what I'm assuming was coffee.
That reminded me of something, and I turned to look out the window next to me, seeing the sun rising from behind the trees.
That means I had most likely been asleep for a night and a bit. Hopefully. But for all I know, I had been asleep for a week.
I hope not.
"Could be better" I answered Wil's question, all my limbs feeling like they could break or fall apart at any minute.
Wil nodded absentmindedly, before turning his attention over to Quackity, nudging him slightly in an attempt to keep him awake.
"We'll go back home in a bit, we just have to wait for Sapnap to wake up" Wil said after a minute and then the room went quiet, as if the conversation that they were having earlier couldn't be continued now that I was here.
I was upset that I hadn't been listening to their conversation when I first got here. I wonder what they were talking about.
I wonder if it was about me.
I wonder if they were going to get rid of me.
That would be good for all of us.
The room stayed quiet for hours. They got me some food and water, and then I was given a book to entertain me until Sapnap woke up.
Sapnap woke up 4 hours later, looking tired and barely awake as he climbed the stairs (not falling), and then sat down next to me, taking the remainder of the sandwich on my plate and eating it. He didn't seem disgusted by the fact that that used to be my sandwich, and that it had been there for hours, but I doubt he cared much.
Wil clapped loudly when he saw Sapnap, smiling happily. "Welp, it looks like we can go home now!"
"Are you sure? You know you can stay as long as you like" Puffy said, smiling gently at Wil as she spoke.
"No, we should head back. Phil will be getting worried soon" Wil argued back nicely, pulling back Quackity's chair slightly and then picking up the sleeping teenager.
I pushed myself up from my chair, holding the fox plush that Sapnap had brought up for me tightly as my legs wobbled under me.
Sapnap offered me his hand for stability, with his legs somewhat holding himself up. But we wobbled together after Quackity and Wilbur.
I wasn't sure what to say to Puffy (Schlatt, Dream and Tubbo were nowhere to be seen), so I just waved goodbye to her as Wil helped me as Sapnap into the back of the truck.
"Ready to go home?" Wil asked as he started up the truck, the engine humming under us.
Home.
A weird feeling grew in my chest, overwhelming the anxiety that prickled through my body.
Was this home?
