Lying back on the table for the ultrasound, Chris was sitting beside me. It has been two weeks since the accident. I had some nightmares since then, so Chris decided to not return to California for the time being. Maria understood why so he was working remotely from our home. Stevie was not going to school. She was staying at home and her teachers were working with her remotely. Bo and his team were back 24/seven. Katie was with us until ten at night. Even though I had shown tenacity and bravery in front of Drea in my kitchen, that traumatized me.
The tech swirled the wand around on my lower abdomen and got my little nugget in view. She was checking the baby out, taking measurements and stuff as we watched her. Chris lifted my hand up and kissed it. Turning my head, I looked at him.
"I love you," he whispered.
"I love you more."
"Never."
"I just love your relationship," Hayley said. "How are the twins?"
"Getting so big," I replied. "How's my little nugget looking?""Oh, do you want to know the sex of the baby?"
"At the hospital, the tech said she thought it was a boy.""She must have been looking at the umbilical cord. It's a girl," she said with a giggle. "Her legs are wide open right now. Look."
I started giggling; "Chris, you're screwed."
"I love my girls," he said and kissed my hand again.
"Do you have a name picked out?"
"First name yes. She will get the other girl name we had picked out."
"Which is?""Sky."
"Awe I love it."
My phone began ringing in my purse. Chris picked it up for me to see Carley's name on the screen.
"Shit, I need to answer that."
"Go ahead," Hayley. "It's fine."
I put my ear pod in and tapped it; "Carley, I'm at my OB/Gyn appointment."
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Iris. Is the baby okay?"
"She's okay.""Oh it's a girl?!"
"Yes," I said with a giggle.
"Congratulations. I won't keep you long. Iris, I hate to do this to you honey, but this is an ultimatum. You have to do an interview."
I groaned; "What are my choices?"
"Well, you can either go primetime with Savannah Guthrie or you can go the radio/internet route with Howard Stern.""I would rather go with Howard Stern, but this will be a dual interview with me and Chris."
"I'm sure he will accept that. They're going to pay you an ass load of money for this interview, Iris."
"Come again?"
"Iris, there has been a bidding war over interviewing you. Howard Stern and NBC were the top two highest offers."
"Wow. Okay. Howard is my choice."
"I'll get this set up. You'll have to go to New York, Iris."
"That's fine. I guess I cannot be a hermit forever."
"No you can't. You are going to be alright, Iris."
"I'll get there."
"I know you will. I'll talk to you later."
I hung up the call and looked over at Chris.
