We had finally all arrived in New Orleans and gotten on our bus parked behind Wonderland, the newest smaller performance venue in town for a contest featuring our music. I wasn't sure what the others thought about this concept, but I was just amazed that this venue manager thought of it. We were told there were eight contestants and that at first, we were going to be hidden from the public and contestants while some friends of ours were going to be judging them.

Oddly enough, when we found out who the venue manage was, we actually knew her. Kat Brooks had made a name for herself years ago in Baton Rouge after she married Matt Brooks of Like a Storm. Matt literally relocated himself to Louisiana from New Zealand to be with her. Now if that isn't real love, I don't know what is. I thought I had, had a love like that before but I ruined that shit myself. She couldn't handle me at my worst and left. Frankly, now, I don't blame her.

Now, I'm healthy, clean and working on myself again. Playing the guitar always made me happy, but there was still a void inside of me that needed to be filled. With what, I had no idea. Sitting in the captain's chair, lost in my thoughts, I felt and heard my stomach growl.

"Man, I heard that all the way over here," Travis he said with a chuckle.

"Guess I'm gonna go inside and grab something out of the green room."

"We will be in shortly," Kent said.

"Don't forget that Kat told us her friend was coming," Travis said.

"Oh, her old high school friend is coming for the weekend. That's right. She said her friend was a huge fan of the band. Said she dealt with some trauma in her past and our music helped her," I responded as I headed towards the door. "I always love it when our music helps people. I'll see you inside."

I walked off the bus and up to the security guard at the door.

"It's open, go on in," he said.

"Thanks."

Walking into the green room, the spread on the tables was freaking huge. Kat went all out for us. This was incredible. Pushing my glasses up the bridge of my nose, I went to head towards one of the tables and a door swung up and out came someone before I could stop myself in my tracks. Reaching out to grab her arm before she fell, I pulled her up.

"Oh my, are you alright? I did not see you!"

"I am kinda short and you're way up there. No big deal. Thanks for the save."

She had the most amazing light grey eyes behind the red rimmed glasses she wore. Her hair was this beautiful light blue color but she had freckles on her fair skin. She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life. She began reaching up towards me.

"Oh wow, that's a lot of hair. Let's get that out of your face," she said and brushed it back.

I smiled down at her as I made sure she was firmly on her feet. My God she was gorgeous.

"I'm sorry about that," I said. "I'm Chris," I said and held out my hand to her after I let go of her.

She placed her hand in mine; "Iris."

"Dr. Iris Tatum," Kat yelled from behind me.

Oh, this is Kat's friend.

"You're a doctor?"

"Of Linguistics," she replied with a smile. "It was nice to meet you, Chris. Excuse me."

She obviously doesn't recognize me. Happens a lot.

I nonchalantly watch them interact with one another and over hear a little bit of their conversation. Kat is complimenting Iris on her figure. Iris thinks she's overweight? She's got to be kidding. She's perfect. Those hips, those thighs, that booty... out of nowhere someone pops me on my arm.
