Chapter 22

Janson POV
I pulled out the load speaker and began. "Good evening! This is the World Catastrophe Killzone Department. We have your compound completely surrounded. You find yourselves, through no fault of your own... in possession of WCKD property. Barkley. Return them to us unharmed and we'll consider this a simple misunderstanding. Or you can resist... and every last one of you will die. It won't be long before the Flare wipes out the rest of us. The hope of a cure lies in your hands. The choice is yours.

Jorge POV
I looked at Brenda. "Go get the kids." She looked at me with concern "What are you gonna do?" I smiled, "I'm gonna play 'em my favourite song." Her eyes widen, "Oh, shit."

Barkley POV
I went back to check on the kids. Janson made it clear they were to be delivered immediately. Once I got there I saw the last kid get out of the ropes. "Nice try you little shits. But I promised results and I'm going to deliver." I held my gun and pointed it at the scrawny blonde.

Newt POV
The gun was pointed right in between my eyes. I heard a whisper, "don't move." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw y/n frozen in place.

y/n POV
I couldn't get to the gun without someone being harmed. I was stuck, frozen in place. My brain was screaming at me to move, to do something, but I couldn't. Bang, the guy went down and the brunette was standing behind him with a gun. "Stop staring and let's go," Brenda motioned. I snapped back to reality and pick up my pace. I passed a bat on my way up the stairs and grabbed it.

Jason POV
"Top floor. Top floor, you idiots." I screamed into my walkie-talkie. The kids were getting away and my men were doing jack shit about it.

Jorge POV
I saw the kids running up the stairs. "Deal is I'll lead you t the right arm, but you guys owe me." The chick laughed and nodded at me. "Sure, the shank that hung us upside down is trying to help." Just then the gunshots started coming through the glass. "We'll discuss terms later old man. But I think we can all agree to choose life. So you got a plan?" "Fuck that, deal now yes or no?" Just then a guard ended the room and aimed his gun but before he fired a shot, the bat she had connected with his face. We heard the crack before we saw the blood-covered splintered bat. "Plan B it is, Hermano." I winked at her. I ran over to the window and set up the carriers. She dropped the bat and ran toward the opening. "Newt, Minho, Fry and Aris get your asses over here," she snapped. The boys rushed over and we sent off one by one down the zipline.

Brenda POV
I forgot something. I turned around to go and find it. Thomas followed me and I could hear Jorge yelling after me. By the time I found it, the zip line was cut. "Fuck," I murmured. "Thomas come on, we have to hurry. The song is almost over." I ran across the beam just as I heard the song end. I grabbed the old elevator shaft roped and slide down just as the old building collapsed. Thomas was lying beside me, out of breath. "You okay kid?" He just nodded, still trying to catch his breath.

Janson POV
They got away, again. I would get those sons of bitches sooner than later. All of them were going to be sorry. Fuck, Ava was going to be pissed.

Brooke POV
I couldn't believe what had just happened. WCKD was so close to us. I didn't think they would catch up this quickly. I caught my breath, put my hands in my pockets and walked over to Gally. This wasn't going to be the last time we would run into them, I had a gut feeling, and I still wasn't sure how I felt about that. I sat next to Gally and just stared into the distance.

Jorge POV
I wasn't sure where Brenda had gone but I knew she had a plan. She knew where she was going and I was sure she would find us. But we had to keep moving, with WCKD on our tail we'd have to keep moving. "Let's go kids. Brenda knows the place. We'll meet her and scruffy there. We've got to keep moving." The chick laughed again. "For once I agree with the old man. Now hows about we discuss this deal of yours?" I rolled my eyes, she reminded me of Brenda. I had a feeling things would work themselves out.

Thomas POV
I was happy to have alone time with Brenda; she seemed cool. Everything was going fine until it wasn't and we were now being chased by the creatures. I was doing my best to keep up with her. Hopefully, we would be able to find the others and not die in the process.
