"...Steven, what the hell are you looking at?"

It had already been strange enough when you woke up in the museum. It had been even stranger when you saw Steven running in in a complete panic. Though, the man was normally on the panic-y side of things. But this? This was different? Steven's eyes darted around the room, watching something that you couldn't see. If you hadn't known better, you might have thought that Steven had been drugged or was exceptionally drunk or just pure delirious from his general lack of sleep. You did know better, though. And you knew that Steven never would have acted like this unless there was good reason for it.

"When I tell you to run, love, I need you to run," he said, keeping his eyes trained on the thing you couldn't see.

"What's going on?"

"Not a bloody clue, love. But you gotta trust me on this, okay? I'll explain later, promise." To himself, he muttered, "If I ever figure out what's going on myself."

"Steven, I'm scared," you said, your voice barely above a whisper.

"Me too, love," he admitted. He spared a glance to you. "But you gotta run when I tell you to, okay? Don't worry about me. I'll be fine." He looked back to the thing. "I hope, anyways."

You glanced between Steven and the exit, fighting every instinct you had to surge forward, grab him by the hand, and tug him out the door with you. But you weren't sure if you could risk it. You had not a single clue as to what the danger could be. You didn't know if you trying to protect Steven would make things worse. But still...Your heart couldn't handle it if Steven was hurt.

A beat passed.

Then two.

Then—

"Go!" Steven shouted. "—GO!"

Your feet moved faster than your brain, carrying you out the door before you could even process Steven's words. You ran, and you ran, praying that everything would be okay again. That Steven would be fine. That everything would be fine.

Unfortunately for your anxieties, you wouldn't find out if Steven was okay for several more days.
