JUNE 27TH, 2009 WAS THE DAY THAT HARRY  had finally grown the balls and ask Louis on their first date, which meant it had to be the most perfect night.

He also wanted to ask the boy to finally be his boyfriend, but he knew that Louis would want to take the traditional route, and go on a few dates before making things official, even though the two had known each other for over ten years.

And even if it meant waiting even longer (which he really didn't want to do), per usual, he would do anything to see his boy happy.

The morning started the way most mornings did for Harry, wake up, wash his face, make breakfast, little bit of grad school studying before heading off to work. The drive to work consisted of daydreaming about finishing his doctorate and opening up his very own veterinary hospital.

The thoughts that got him through the day were always the same, thoughts of Louis and the life he hoped to have with the boy. He wonders how the day is going for Louis, and by the time he knows it, it's lunch time. Lunch consists of phone calls with his mom, telling her about his day and making plans to spend the day with her soon.

Before he realizes it, it's quitting time, he locks up the shop and makes his way to Publix. He's decided on spaghetti because not only is it quick and practically impossible to mess up, it's one of Louis' favorites. He also picks up some drinks, and cupcakes for desert. He knows that Louis would prefer ice cream, but  they're going on a picnic and ice cream isn't exactly the best option right now.

Upon getting home, Harry quickly takes his post work shower before immediately running to the kitchen and getting started on their meal.

He's got Friends running in the background, speaking along with the characters as he gets all the tupperwear and utensils ready in the cutest little basket he found at TJMAXX a few weeks ago. He hates to admit it, but he mainly wanted their first date to be a picnic one so that he would be able to use his cute little picnic basket.

It takes him only about an hour and a half to have the food cooked and packed, he got dressed while the pasta was cooking so all he's got left to do is find something to do with the absolute mop of curls he's got sitting on his head.

It's a quarter to six when his phone starts to ring. The biggest smile is plastered on his face as soon as he sees the letter L pop up on his little phone screen.

"Hey blue." he answers the phone, voice chirpy and flustered as he tries to calm down so that he doesn't sound too excited.  Though, Louis doesn't ever care that he sounds excited, there's no such thing as too excited to hear from someone you care for; at least in Louis' mind.

"Hazzie, I'm on my way over, I figured I would meet you at your place and we could head to the park together." it was only a short walk to the park from Harry's efficiency, getting there would cost him getting a little sweaty as it took a twenty-minute bike ride to get there, but he knew Harry wouldn't care.

"Baby," Harry lets out a soft sigh, it's not out of disappointment, he just wished Louis would've asked for a ride, he never cares about picking his boy up anywhere, "you know I don't mind picking you up." he knows it's too late and that Louis is near a main street, the wind is too loud for him to be by his house.

"No, I know, but I knew you were prepping for our night and you're already doing so much for me- for us, I don't mind doing this one thing." Louis says a little loudly so Harry can hear him properly.
