Karlie's POV
I grab my to-go coffee cup and run out of the door to my apartment. I'm running terribly late for work; I am going to have to be setting up the classroom as the children come in, rather than already having everything ready for them. I open the door to my black Chrystler 300, and get in, then buckle myself up quickly. I floor it out of the parking lot and weave my way through the early morning traffic, before finally arriving at the school.
I walk in the door, searching through my key ring, to find the one which opens my classroom door. After finding the key, I begin to fumble with the lock, feeling eyes on me, one I get the door open, I turn around to see Cara standing in her doorway across the hall, looking at me and smiling. I told her everything that happened with Taylor while her and Selena took Dylan out, and we giggled excitedly about it the whole way to my house that day. I'm sure she is expecting an update.
"Goodmorning Cara," I smile in her direction, waving.
"Goodmorning Kar, what's new?" She asks, and I know exactly what she means by that.
"Nothing, honestly. I spent the rest of the weekend grading and binging Friends," I reply, shrugging my shoulders.
"No texts or calls, from a certain someone?" She looks at me concerned. I know I have a small frown on my face. We texted back and forth for a few minutes that afternoon after I left her house, but I haven't heard from Taylor since.
"We texted a little bit, but it really wasn't anything," I reply.
"Can I see?" She asks, holding her hand out for my phone, I oblige, handing it over.
The texts say:
Me: Hey Taylor, thank you so much for last night and today, I had a great time! :)
Tay💕: Hey Karlie, I did as well. Dylan was happy to have you guys over.
Me: I'm so glad it wasn't weird for her! When will I see you again?
Tay💕: I'll be dropping off and picking up again next week.
Me: Okay, I look forward to seeing you 🥰
Tay💕: See you then.
Cara looks to me after reading them, with an unreadable expression. "She seems like she was being really short with you. Like you guys didn't have sex or anything," Cara frowns, I frown back.
"I know, so I really don't know what to expect this morning from her, she's having a hard time with this type of stuff, and I understand why, but she doesn't understand that I don't care about how hard it would be, you know?" I tell Cara everything I've been thinking.
"It sounds like you guys need more communication and need to find a time to really talk about things, so you're not sitting around waiting for her," Cara says in a serious tone. We hear footsteps coming down the hallway. We look over to see one of Cara's students coming. I watch Cara greet the little boy, letting him know he can go sit down and begin writing his ABC's.
We hear more footsteps, and I look up to see Taylor and Dylan. Taylor is wearing a beautiful white skirt, and a beige blazer over a white shirt, while holding a coffee. She looks like she has somewhere to be today. Dylan comes running up to me, giving me a hug, I give her my greetings, letting her know she can go find her chair and practice writing her full name. I look up to meet Taylor's eyes.
"Goodmorning Taylor, how are you doing?" I ask her with a smile.
"Goodmorning Miss Kloss, I'm doing fine, and you?" She asks, seeming to be in a very professional state of mind.
