•• ━━ "𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻" ━━ ••
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅The crackling sounds of static could be heard wafting through Chrissy's bedside radio, as Roy Orbison's famous hit flowed through the speakers:
𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲
𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲
𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲Just as quickly as it started, the blonde bombshell began humming along in tune while she finished applying her makeup in the mirror.
Only a few feet away from her, lying on the freshly made lilac bedding, was Jessica Elwood, stuck in a trance as she watched her best friend smear a light gloss coat on her rosy lips.
The irony of the song certainly didn't go unnoticed by Jess, who continued staring helplessly at Chrissy tightening her ponytail and standing up from her desk chair, beginning to dance around. The lyrics encompassed her innermost thoughts as she watched her best friend enjoy herself without a care.
The way Chrissy's eyes sparkled when she was happy and how her smile always lit up a room never failed to lift the moods of everyone around her. It was her signature trait that made all who knew her fall victim to her pure radiance. Teachers would go easy on her, guys would fawn all over her, and girls just wanted to be her. She truly was the "It Girl" of Hawkins High, and Jessica was honored and proud to be her friend.
It was always them against the world considering the two were inseparable and had been so for many years. They had lived right next door to each other since they were kids, so naturally, the friendship was stronger than ever. Usually, it was rare to hear one girl's name without the other since they were practically attached at the hip.
However, recently, things began to shift ever so slightly in their relationship.
"Jason is picking us up today because of the pep rally," Chrissy said out of the blue, smoothening her skirt down once the song had ended. "I hope that's okay."
The careless demeanor that was once present on Jessica's face vanished completely at the sound of his name.
Jason Carver.
The major athlete and star player on the Hawkins High basketball team. He became the most popular guy in school after Steve Harrington graduated and his blonde hair and blue eyes were known for making the girls, and practically the whole damn town, swoon over his supposed charm and good looks.
He started dating Chrissy at the beginning of the year after they met at homecoming and ever since then, it was as if walls started to build in the girls' friendship. They'd no longer confide in each other like they once did. Jessica started questioning her sexuality and didn't dare look to the blonde for help, and the latter began questioning her sanity but refused to seek support from her trusted friend.
