Third Person POVJake, Kenji, and David walked outside to find a place to sit. They were eating outside since it wasn't too cold. Jake and Kenji sat next to each other while David sat across from them. "Is something wrong Jake?" David asked. "No," Jake answered, "why do you ask?" David looked down. "It just seems like something bothering you," they replied. Jake's attention turned to the table on the other side of the lawn. Jayden was sitting there; alone.
This was out of the ordinary. Normally Jayden would sit with the other "popular kids", so seeing him sitting alone was weird. Jayden had blood on his khakis. Blood that wasn't there this morning. "What are you looking at?" Kenji asked poking Jake's arm. "Jayden," Jake answered. David turned around and looked at Jayden. "Isn't he the guy that bullies you?" David asked putting away their lunch. "Yeah," Jake said.
David got up from their seat. "What are you doing?" Jake asked panicked. "Getting revenge for you," David said walking towards Jayden. "No, don't!" Jake exclaimed frantically getting up. Kenji grabbed on to Jake. "There's no point in trying to stop him," Kenji said. Jake knew Kenji was right. Once David got into something, there was no getting them out of it.
"Hey Jayden," David said snapping their fingers. Jayden ignored him and continued to eat his sandwich. "I know you can hear me," David said louder. Jayden was getting irritated. "Why did you bully my friend?" David asked angrily. Jayden turned around and punch David. David fell to the ground and grunted in pain. "I never wanted to bully your friend!" Jayden screamed enraged, "Do you think I wanted to be perceived as some homophobic bitch who goes around bullying queer people for fun? Because I don't!"
David couldn't move. They couldn't believe what they were hearing. Jayden looked down and saw what he did to David. There were wounds and bruises all over their arms and legs. "What have I done?!" Jayden said panicking. He started to feel dizzy and it became hard to breathe. Jayden was having a panic attack. David got up and tried to calm Jayden down, but nothing worked. "I don't feel good," Jayden said looking drowsy. He fell to the ground unconscious.
Jake ran over and checked on Jayden. "David," Jake exclaimed, "help me take him to the nurse's office." David grabbed Jayden's legs while Jake grabbed Jayden's arms. They brought Jayden to the nurse's office and set him on a bed. "Hello," the nurse said walking into the room, "what seems to be the problem?"
"Jayden had a panic attack and fainted," Jake responded. "Alright," the nurse said picking up a clipboard. "Shouldn't you be a little more concerned about this?" David asked. "Yes I should," the nurse replied getting the pen from behind his ear, "but this isn't the first time this has happened. Jayden has had a history of panic attacks ever since his parents got divorced." Jake and David were shocked. They knew Mr. Ragenzaw has had multiple wives, hell the whole school knew. But Jayden having panic attacks was news for them.
The nurse checked Jayden's pulse and temperature. "Are these cuts from the fall?" the nurse asked. Jake looked at the cuts on Jayden's arm. "I don't think so," Jake replied, "they look too big to be from a fall." The nurse put some bandages on the cuts. "What could they be from then?" David asked.
The cuts look like they were originally scratch marks. Like someone else was trying to hurt Jayden. A thought came to Jake's mind. What if? No. Mr. Ragenzaw would never do that. But what if he did? What if?
What if Mr. Ragenzaw did this to Jayden...
