Third Person POVJake knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer. A tall young man came and answered the door. "Hello?" the man said with a deep tone. "Hi," Jake replied, "I'm here to see Kenji." The man let Jake inside the house. "Kenji's upstairs," the man said, "but be careful, he's sick." Jake ran into the house and up the stairs. Kenji could be heard sneezing from his room. Jake opened the door to Kenji's room and walked in. "Hey," Jake said closing the door behind him. "Hi, Jake," Kenji said in a nasal tone.
"How are you feeling?" Jake asked. "Well," Kenji responded sitting up, "if the stuffy nose isn't a giveaway, not great." Jake and Kenji laughed. "Do you need anything?" Jake asked. "Some tea would be nice," Kenji answered. "Alright," Jake said walking out of the room. Jake went downstairs and into the kitchen. The man from earlier was sitting at the kitchen island. "Hey," Jake said. "Hi," the man said while looking at his phone. Jake made the tea and brought it back up to Kenji. "Thank you," Kenji said taking the drink from Jake's hand. "No problem," Jake replied.
Jake sat on the bed next to Kenji. "Can I get a hug?" Kenji asked in a child-like voice. "I wish I could," Jake replied, "but I don't want to get sick." Kenji understood. He wasn't happy about it though. "But I will do this," Jake said. Jake leaned over and kissed Kenji on the cheek. "Thank you," Kenji said blushing. Jake and Kenji were clearly interested in each other, but they haven't officially started dating. Granite, it's kinda hard to date as a queer couple when you go to a school like Ravencrown. But now that Mr. Ragenzaw was gone, maybe things would change for the better.
"What happened at school today?" Kenji asked. "Oh, nothing much," Jake said sarcastically, "just Mr. Ragenzaw getting arrested." Kenji was confused. "Why would Mr. Ragenzaw get arrested?" Kenji asked. Jake didn't know how to respond, he just had to be honest with Kenji. "Mr. Ragenzaw was caught physically and verbally abusing Jayden," Jake answered, "That's why Jayden was mean towards me. Mr. Ragenzaw forced him to be homophobic." Kenji couldn't believe what he was hearing. The person he trusted for years turned out to be a terrible person.
"That's horrible," Kenji said sinking his face into the pillow. "I know," Jake replied getting up from the bed, "but everything will be better now." Kenji got up from bed and stood beside Jake. "By the way," Jake said, "I have a question. Who is that strange man downstairs?" Kenji laughed. "That 'strange man' as you put it is my older brother," Kenji answered. "I didn't know you had an older brother," Jake said in awe. "Well I guess you know now, his name is Kameron." Kenji pulled out an old picture of him and his brother. Kenji was only twelve when the photo was taken. His brother was sixteen.
"You look so different," Jake exclaimed as Kenji handed him the picture. "Well, it was taken six years ago," Kenji replied taking the picture back. Kenji looked at Jake in the eye. "Can I get a hug now?" Kenji asked making puppy eyes. Jake laughed. "Kenji I already told you, I don't want to get sick," Jake said messing with Kenji's hair. "If you can kiss me you can give me a hug," Kenji argued back. "Alright," Jake said finally giving in. Kenji wrapped his arms around Jake's torso. The hug made Jake feel warm inside. A feeling he hasn't felt in a long time. Jake wrapped his arms around Kenji and held him tight. Jake leaned into Kenji's ear and whispered...
"I love you..."
