"let's just get this over and done with"

out of all places landon could've taken me, he decided to take me to a engagement brunch for his aunt. like seriously.

"landon, you look so cute! and this must be your girlfriend scarlett!"

landon is so dead.

"nice to meet you!" i say, forcing a smile.

"i've heard so many good things about you, it's so good to finally met you!"

"same goes for you!"

his aunt walks away and i punch landon in the arm.

"are you serious?"

"what? my family has been grilling me to get a girlfriend for a while now so why not it be you?"

"because i hate you?"

"i love you too babe"

i rolled my eyes and to make things even better, a photographer approached us.

"what an attractive couple! pose for a quick snap shot please!"

landon wrapped his arm around me and pressed his lips on my cheeks. i smiled for the camera as hard as i could.

"oh god, show me to the drinks table"

i poured myself a few shots and downed them in an instant.

"so, how's things with josh?" landon asked.

"don't act like you care"

"i do. josh is my friend"

"then why would you do this?"

"actually, the real question is why would YOU do this. you're the one that slept with taitan, not me"

"you aren't any better, you're blackmailing me!"

"true but i'm known as a bad person already, i'm always expected to fuck up every now and then. you're a sweet little angel, when you fuck up it's not gonna be good"

i had to down a few more shots after that one. he was right. i should've just confessed to josh last week but landon had got into my head. stupid landon.

"well for your information, josh and i are doing just fine"

"good to know, he says the same about you"

"really?"

"don't be so surprised. he's loved the thought of you all these years and now he can finally love the real you"

landon looked down. i felt a bit bad for him.

"why haven't you settled down if you don't mind me asking?"

"it's just not for me. no matter how much i want to be, most people don't view me as the relationship type"

"is that why you brought me here?"

"for once in my life i just wanted to prove my family wrong. you're a great girl you know, and you're hot as fuck so i knew i would score if i brought you today" he says as i rolled my eyes.

"how often do you see your family?"

"there's my mom, dad and golden child older sister at home that i see everyday but i see everyone else only on special occasions like this one. it's not like i'm even close with my parents anyway, they're always too focused on my dear sibling"

i looked behind landon and saw a few people whispering about us. i felt bad so why not put on a good show for them!
