"you want dessert?"

"no, not tonight"

"yeah, me too"

tate had took me out to some expensive restaurant for dinner like he always does, he sure does have taste.

"i'll go grab the check then"

"make sure to split it 50/50"

"babe, you don't have to pay a cent when you're with me" he says as i blushed.

i mean i didn't have any cents to spend anyway, i don't have a job. tate, josh, scout, sarah and all the others at my school don't need to work as they get high trust funds and allowances. i'm blessed enough for my mom to afford to live in the same nice area as them but her job just doesn't pay enough to give me constant allowances like the others. maybe i should pick up a job.

"oh hey scarlett, funny seeing you at a place like this!"

"hey sarah"

"are you here alone?"

"no no, taitan's grabbing the check"

"as expected"

ever since josh and sarah started being friends with benefits again, she turned cold. she always calls me out in cheer, gives me back handed compliments and sometimes just straight up ignores me.

"oh hey tate!"

"hey, scar you ready to go?"

"yeah, i'll see you around sarah"

"wait! i just want to know why josh was at your place for so long the other night?" she said with a smirk.

taitan turned to me.

"he was with my brother. how do you know how long he was there?"

"oh i have josh's location duh"

taitan stayed a bit quiet on the way home.

"is that the only reason josh was at your place? just for nic?" he finally asked.

"he came to drop things off for his mom and happened to see nic on his way out so yeah, that was it"

"that's all?"

"that's all"

taitan lightly smiled and dropped me off home. i knew for a fact that he didn't believe me. the only part that i left out was that we had a small talk, which is harmless right?

• the next day •

"i get to see him last period so hopefully we're okay"

"he definitely knows you're lying" scout says.

"100 percent" safiya added.

"well i'm screwed then"

"not really, just own up to it before he accuses you!" scout says.

"you're right, i'll try!"

last period was english, which was with tate.

"babe?"

"hm?"

"can we talk?"

"sorry i'm kind of trying to focus, maybe after school"

"sure"

taitan didn't even look at me the whole day, let alone now. i was definitely screwed. we didn't speak the whole class.

"it's already 8, should i just go?"

"bitch, hang up and leave already"

"scout i'm nervous!"
