the party was already popping when san arrived. he liked to be fashionably late for these kinds of things – they were usually pretty lame for the first couple hours.
in honesty though, san's heart wasn't really into partying that sunday night. he was exhausted from his work schedule and school, but he had promised his friend seonghwa that he would swing by and san didn't like breaking his promises.
the house was stuffy and smelled of sweat. seonghwa's probably swearing at someone for wearing shoes in the house right now, san chuckled to himself. he looked around a little, said hi to a couple people he knew and made his way over to the kitchen to get himself something to drink.
"heyyyy there."
san's attention shifted to where a pretty freckle-faced guy with blonde hair was leaning seductively up against the refrigerator. it was clear he knew how hot he was and made no effort to hide it.
"hey," san gave the cute guy a polite nod. "what's your name?
"i'm felix," he purred, pulling himself up close and wrapping his arms around san's waist. "but you can call me lix, or lixxie, or baby boy..."
jesus, i've only been here two minutes.
usually he'd be all over a cute, flirty guy like this but felix was clearly heavily intoxicated and san would never ever do anything with someone who wasn't able to properly consent. honestly, it was just basic human decency.
"you certainly are very forward felix," he grinned awkwardly, gently trying to detach the man's arms from his waist but felix was a lot stronger than he looked.
"i know what i want and i go for it," felix giggled, pulling himself even closer so their bodies were pressed together.
"look..." san leaned back from him. "i'm sure you're very nice but you're also very drunk."
"i'm sober as october!" he slurred.
what the fuck does that even mean?
san finally managed to peel himself away from the drunk man and grabbed a beer off the counter. "please just go and drink some water or something," he nodded at felix and left before the man actually pounced on him.
just as he went to take off to look for more people he knew, a speck of purple flashed in the corner of his eye. lilac purple to be exact. was that just... wooyoung? san shifted onto his tippy toes to look over the crowd but he couldn't be certain of what he saw. did i hallucinate him? no, i'm probably not drunk enough for that yet.
it wasn't the first time san had imagined wooyoung since their night together. the cute man had appeared in his dreams the night prior and needless to say, san had had to wash his sheets when he woke up in the morning.
still, the dream wooyoung was nothing compared to the real thing.
his curiosity led him towards where he saw the hair colour in the jam packed room and out into the cool nighttime air of the house's backyard. it was pretty quiet out there other than few people passing around a joint and some drunk girl throwing rocks at a tree trunk.
but in the very far corner of the yard, a small form was crouched down by the brushes. it was him. san wasn't hallucinating at all.
he squinted a little to see across the dimly lit lawn. what's he doing out here all alone?
the closer he got, the more worried san became. he could hear small sniffles like wooyoung was crying.
"hey," san crouched down next to the smaller man. "you okay?"
wooyoung turned slowly. his watery eyes confirmed san's assumptions – he was crying. when wooyoung recognized san's face, he recoiled a little, his soft features instantly turning hostile.
"w-what do you want?"
yikes. even from a couple feet away, san could smell the alcohol off his breath.
he shuffled a little closer. "i didn't know you would be here... i just came to see if you were okay."
"weren't you busy inside?" he mumbled.
"what?" san furrowed his brow in confusion. "i just got here..."
wooyoung remained quiet. was he upset with me? for some reason, the thought bothered him more than he would have expected.
"do you feel sick?" san brought a hand to the smaller man's back. he flinched under the touch but didn't move away. "you look a little bit uh... drunk."
wooyoung hid his rosy face from san and sniffled.
"come on wooyoung, talk to me," san tried. "please."
"i-" wooyoung's voice was very small and his words melded together. "i wanna leave...mingi said he would drive b-but... i can't find him..."
san's heart broke a little and he had to fight away the sudden urge to pull wooyoung into his arms. he hadn't seen mingi anywhere either. so much for that big speech about not hurting wooyoung. what kind of person abandons their friend at a party?
"i can try calling him for you."
wooyoung shook his head. "he's not answering."
god. what the hell was wrong with that tall bastard?
"hey, come on. can you get up?"
he turned to san with an accusatory glare, though his red puffy eyes betrayed any kind of intimidation the look could've carried.
"why?"
"i'll take you home."
"no."
"wooyoung," san's voice got a little sterner. "you're wasted and clearly upset. let me help you."
wooyoung picked at some pieces of grass near his feet. "i wouldn't want to take y-you away... you were having fun...inside."
why does he keep saying tha- oh. san finally realized that wooyoung must have seen him with felix earlier in the kitchen. was he... was wooyoung jealous? san felt a pang of guilt in his chest. he didn't really owe wooyoung an explanation, after all, they weren't together. still, hurting the boy was the last thing he wanted to do.
"nothing happened inside," san explained in a soft voice, trying to meet wooyoung's eyes. "i was going to get a drink."
"but i saw you w-with-"
"i turned him down."
"oh," wooyoung glanced up at him, hostility instantly faded away. if possible, his face flushed to an even deeper shade of red.
san smiled. god he's cute. "so will you let me drive you home now?"
"um-"
"wooyoung..." san raised an eyebrow at him.
"ok."
"good," san smiled at him. "can you stand?"
wooyoung looked a little unsure. he rose up a little from his crouched position, but the small man's knees wobbled and he stumbled over his feet. san reacted quickly, catching wooyoung with an arm around the male's waist and pulled him up close to his body to stabilize him.
"s-sorry," wooyoung said quietly, his soft body pressed up close to the dark-haired man.
san took a deep breath, the sweet scent of wooyoung's perfume filling his nostrils. he tried really hard not to think about wooyoung's exposed torso under the hem of his crop top, or the way his ruffled hair reminded him of the way it looked the morning after they had slept together.
off limits, he told himself. you promised mingi he was off limits.
"c'mon wooyoung," he backed off a little, instead offering the shorter man his arm to hold onto. wooyoung took it gladly and leaned against him to maintain his balance.
"let's get you out of here."
