Chapter 24

Several hours passed since the incident at the forest. It was already morning, and both Paris and Kai were immediately taken to the hospital to treat their injuries.

They had been gone for three whole days, and everyone was relieved to find them still alive. Well, almost alive. Kai was at the edge of dying after being shot on the chest. However, the doctors were able to treat her on time, and she was saved.

Based on what the doctors had informed, the bullet luckily didn't reach Kai's heart to the point of killing her. All she needed to do right now is get enough rest, and stay at the hospital for at least a week to recover.

On the other hand, the injuries from Paris weren't severe and she was discharged from the hospital this morning. The first thing she wanted to do after getting out from that hospital room is check how Kai was doing.

Paris walked through the hallways of the hospital, spotting Pearl standing next to one of the doors of a room. She imagined that this was Kai's room and approached her. "Hey, Pearl!"

"Paris! Are you okay?" Pearl asked with concern, examining Paris from head to toe, noticing the bandages on her wrist.

"Yeah, I'm okay. I just had a cut on my wrist and a few other bruises on my body. It's not that bad. How is Kai doing though?" Paris replied, her mind was still thinking about Kai, and only Kai. She couldn't think of anything else before first knowing if Kai was really okay.

Pearl explained, "Ms. Kai woke up a few minutes ago, she is doing pretty well based on what the doctors have said. Mr. Kyle came to visit her since the Leader is currently busy with other businesses right now."

Paris lifted her brows hearing this, "Mr Kyle? Isn't this Kai's younger brother?"

Pearl nodded, and continued, "Yup, you're right. That's why I'm here. He came to the mansion after becoming aware of the incident, and the leader sent him here to check on Ms. Kai. I'm just here to attend him as his bodyguard."

"Oh, I see." This was the first time that Kyle had ever appeared since the day Paris joined the major family. She was curious to know how he looked like, and if he was similar to Kai.

Just when she was thinking about this, the door of the room abruptly open, and a tall young man that appeared to be around nineteen came out of the room. He was extremely attractive, looking like a celebrity or something like that. He was just like Kai, but a male version, and a little more taller. So, this was Kai's mysterious younger brother.

Kyle closed the door behind his back, and shifted his gaze from Pearl to Paris. He already knew who Paris was, and he only bowed his head politely to greet her. Paris did the same, and remained quiet, waiting for him to speak first. "Pearl, drive me back to my house." He said with a serious expression. He seemed like a cold person like rumors said because he didn't even try to start a conversation with Paris.

"Yes, Mr. Kyle." Pearl answered him before turning back to Paris and told her, "Got to go then. I'll see you around later."

"Mhm, see you!" Paris replied, seeing Pearl and Kyle vanishing in the distance. Kyle was an interesting person, but way too dry. Would have been fun to know more about him. This was Paris' first impression of him.

Without wasting anymore time, Paris opened the door, and entered the room. This room was larger than the one she was staying in earlier, and it also had a queen sized bed where Kai was currently resting. This was not fair! Why do Mafias get to have a better room than their bodyguards?

Kai noticed Paris entering the room, and decided to speak first, "I heard that you got discharged from the hospital a few minutes ago. How are you feeling?"
