Chapter 29

The day of the mission finally arrived and Kai was back at the hospital, waiting for news from Pearl. She couldn't stop staring at her phone, waiting for a notification to pop-up on the screen. But there was nothing. No news for hours.

Kai already knew how the mission was going to start, and how it was going to end. There was definitely going to be a lot of blood splattered on the ground today. It was going to be a war with guns.

Venus, Pearl, and Paris will be entering the territory of the gangsters with a group of bodyguards from the minor family in a truck. The bodyguards will be hiding in the back of the truck so that the gangsters wouldn't suspect that something is off.

Just like Pearl had mentioned previously, the bandit they captured will be leading them to their leader. After that, they will attack the group of gangster and the leader in groups, killing them on the spot. Not leaving a single one of them alive.

These type of missions were easy-peasy for Venus. She was an expert at manipulating and fooling people around. This is why she was able to convince that one bandit to help them with the mission. However, she will always backstab him at the end. Shooting him to death just like the rest of them.

When it comes to war, no one can be trusted. This was all about finishing the job and completing the mission successfully.

"Ms. Kai, we are glad to inform you that your condition has gotten a lot better, and you will be able to go back home earlier than expected. You will be discharged in the evening. We have already reached your father to notify him about the news." One of the nurses told Kai, placing a glass of water on the small table next to the hospital bed where Kai was currently laying down.

As soon as Kai heard this, she couldn't help but to feel joy. She was finally able to get the hell out of this hospital. She nodded to the nurse, and continued to stare at the black screen of her phone.

Hours swiftly passed by, and in a blink of an eye, it was already evening. Kai was discharged from the hospital, and she was on her way back to the mansion with a bodyguard. There was still no calls or messages from Pearl.

Kai was starting to overthink at this point, letting her mind assume wild things like: 'What if Pearl died? What if the mission failed? What if they all died? Fuck this shit! Paris! You promised me to come back!'

*Bzzzzz!*

Just when she was about to panic, the screen of her cellphone turned on with an incoming call. It was from Pearl! Finally!

Letting out a deep sigh, Kai slided the screen of her phone with her thumb, answering the call. She placed the phone on her ear, before speaking, "Hello? Is everything okay?"

"Good evening Ms. Kai. I'm sorry for the late call. I was only able to contact you until now. We finished the mission a few minutes ago." Pearl's voice sounded in the other end.

"How did everything go?" Kai asked.

"The mission was a success! We were able to stick to the original plan that Venus came up with, and we defeated all of the gangsters in one go. I'm still surprised that everything went so smoothly." Pearl responded with excitement. Who wouldn't be happy after completing such a risky mission like that one?

Kai felt relieved after hearing this. It was like taking out a weight out of her chest. She was glad that they were both safe. She opened her mouth to reply to Pearl, but something interrupted her words.

In the silence of their voices, she could hear loud party music in the background. This was coming from Pearl's side. The beat of the music was similar to those you will hear in a disco or a club. Where the hell was she?
