Chapter 28

It was already late in the evening at the minor family's mansion. Pearl and Paris decided that they were going to be spending the night there so that they could start the mission right away the next morning with Venus.

They were both staying in the same guest room. Paris was the first one to fall asleep, and Pearl took this opportunity to get out of the guest room, and headed to the bathroom to call Kai and update her about the mission. She imagined how restless Kai must've been after knowing that Paris was going to be spending the night over here, with the minor family.

Pearl walked through the dim hallways of the house, searching for the bathroom. On her way over there, she heard the creaking sound of a door opening in the distance. She squinted her eyes to have a better view of the person in the dark. It was Venus. She was entering a room, and then shut the door behind her back, not becoming aware that Pearl was there.

The room that Venus entered was actually her own bedroom. Pearl had the urge to approach the door, and listen to what Venus was talking on the phone. She was in a call. However, Pearl couldn't understand the conversation because it was scarcely audible, only indistinct mumbles could be heard.

In the meantime, while Venus was on a call, Pearl took out her cellphone, and texted Kai:

Ms. Kai, I have good news.
The bandit that we recently
captured has finally spoken.
He is going to lead us tomorrow
morning to where their leader is
located. After that, we are going
to negotiate with the leader, and
then, we will attack them
on the spot. That's the plan that
Venus came up with. How does

Pearl didn't know how, but Venus was already standing outside the room, beside her, whispering in her ear these words that sent cold shivers down her spine. How come she didn't hear the door opening? And since when was Venus standing beside her? Did she read the messages?

Pearl was almost frightened to death, and she immediately turned off her cellphone, praying that Venus didn't read any of the conversation she had with Kai just now. Why did she had to be caught again? This is seriously going to give her a heart attack one day.
