"Will you stop yawning? This is like the umpteenth time you're doing this." Chandni heard Ashwin mutter when she was mid-yawn.

He was true; it was the day after her recital wherein she had woken up at noon, had lunch directly before she and her sister heard the unmistakable noise of Diya's car and they had taken off to the mall for their shopping spree after Chandni had took bath.

Chandni remembered how she had returned home giddily and in a haze had crashed on her sister's bed, cuddling with her after her little night-out.

Anjana remembered how Chandni had woken up on her bed, disoriented, well at dawn when called for breakfast. She'd shuffled around, then sat oh her heels on the bed before bending forward and planting her face back on to the bed.

And Anjana decided to let her be when she came back to find her sister asleep again. The previous night's events as well as waking up so very late had made Chandni yawn non-stop; the air-conditioner in the shop wasn't helping either.

"Sorr—" She cut herself off to stifle a yawn.

Ashwin rolled his eyes, not reacting when she rest her head on his shoulder and leaned further into him as they looked for formal suits.

"What did you do yesterday after going home?" He questioned her, subconsciously being careful not to move himself and disturb her resting head.

"Nothing! I swear! I went home, changed from my costume—"

"And went out with Aakash!" Anjana offered from the other side of the rack they were looking at, making Chandni shoot up straight.

"You what?" Ashwin hissed, turning to her.

"It was nothing! We just— we walked out, had waffles and ice cream, walked back. Just simple hanging out stuff!" Chandni defended herself even though she clearly knew it felt everything but simple.

Ashwin sighed heavily, "Chandni how many times have I told you not to—"

"How many times have we told you to stop doing that?" Anjana mumbled .

"I know right, he bosses around a lot. As if he wants us to go 'okay daddy', 'yes daddy' on him." Diya mocked from where she was placing a shirt on her front and checking it out in front of the mirror.

Ashwin spoke, "I'm just looking out for—"

Anjana cut him off, "Yes, we know that you're concerned but then how will she even experience things if we keep her away from doing it by herself. Be it good or bad stuff."

Chandni shrunk in her place, suddenly feeling like the kid stuck between the parents' debate.

She signaled Diya with desperate eyes who upon seeing her stuck-in-the-middle expression decided to help her.
