It had been a couple of weeks and every night I heard her stumbling inside. I was desperate to find out more.

One afternoon I finally decided to venture outside and wonder around the park and see Poppie sat on the grass doing some university work.

"Hey there stranger." I smile. She ignores me so I sit down next to her. "Poppie."

She sighs. "What." She doesn't even look at me. "I um- just walking by and I saw ye." I say. "What good eyesight you have." She continues writing. I chuckle. "It's better than John's I can tell ye that." I laugh but she wasn't amused. "Do ye want to go out tonight? It won't be a date- unless you want it to that I'm fine with that it just- I want to get to knew ye more." I say in a panic. "Smooth Mr Starkey."

"Well? I thought maybe the Ritz y'know. All posh just like yer room minus the Beatles posters." I chuckle and she blushes. "Don't tell anyone about my room." She says. "I won't, I swear on me sister." I smile and cross my heart. She finally looks at me and I smile awkwardly. "You're weird." She says. "Well I am a Beatle ma'am."

"Right.. although George isn't weird."

"George is weird enough, next time you see him ask him about February, he'll just go on about cake."

"Well that makes sense considering his birthday is in that month."

"He's still weird."

"And I just won this debate." She says and looks back to her work. "Just come out with me yeah? Tonight. Wear somming nice." I smile. She looks me up and down. "And I suppose you'll be wearing that?"

"Nah I'll put a nice suit on love don't you worry."

"Fine. But it's just dinner alright? A thank you I guess, for the other night." She says. "Yes, I won't let you down." I smile and run off.

***********

"George I need to borrow yer best suit." I walk into his room. He puts his guitar down. "Why?" He asks me. "I'm going to the Ritz for dinner." I smile all smug. "Oh what's the special occasion?" He asks. "I'm going out with Miss Poppie I'll find out her middle name Alford." I smile. He widens his eyes. "And she knows she's going?" I nod. "Bloody hell Ritch." He chuckles and stands up. "Right I'm not sure what I got, I think my best one is the one yer sister got me." He pulls it out. "Oh that's perfect mate." I smile and take it. "Is this all a date then?" He asks. "I don't know, I said it doesn't have to be."

"Well good luck having a conversation with her." He laughs. "Oh piss off, yer just as bad. At least I haven't proposed yet." I giggle. "Right, out of my room." He shoves me out and shuts the door and I laugh.

In the evening I put on my suit. "George told me ye got a little date Ritchie." John smiles mischievously. "It's not a date." I brush my hair. "Well she's a good one Ritch." He turns me around. "Be careful with her, Brittany has told me some things." He starts fixing my tie. "What things?"

"That she's super fucking posh, a higher level than Eppy and George Martin posh." He cackles. "And what's wrong with that?" I ask. "I dunno, she's just boring an' all." He shrugs and dusts off my shoulders. "But if she's your type then go for it, my type is more your sister. " He giggles and goes red. "What the fuck? Ye ain't going anywhere near her. She loves Keith alright? Hense why she hangs out with the stones more than us. Go shag Brittany or somming." I glare at him. "Bloody hell Ritch, y'know Elsie's me best friend right? I can go near her if I want." He walks out.

I sign and put on some shoes and go downstairs to wait for Poppie.

Some time passes and I hear someone stumble out of their room and comes downstairs. My jaw drops open. Her hair all curled in a half up half down and lightly blushed on her cheeks and looking nervous was the love of my life- I mean my friend I'm going to dinner with.

Pink suited her so well

Pink suited her so well. I stand up and smile massively and she looks at me. "What?" She asks me. "Where has the world been hiding you all this time." I walk up to her and she blushes. "Stop flirting, this is just dinner okay?" She says. "Y-yes of course." I smile weakly and hold out my arm. "Ready ma'am?"

She links arms with me and we leave for the Ritz.
