A/N: this is the first chapter of my new story! I really hope you'll all enjoy it. It's set in season 4. I took some liberty to add new character and change the story line a little bit. The events of season 3 did not all happen, meaning for some characters to be able to return ;) anyways, like every first chapter it's a bit of an introduction. I hope you enjoy it!~~~~~
Hawkins Indiana, March 22, 1986
"So, Doctor Zhivago, it's a double VHS," Steve said as he brought over the film to one of his female costumers. "It's long but that's because it's filled with action and romance and a little bit of suspense."
"Okay, so my boyfriend isn't totally going to like, puke, when I bring this home?" The girl asked as Steve handed her the VHS.
"Oh you... your boyfriend? Oh, no, no. He's gonna love it. Yeah." He nodded, trying to hide his disappointment.
"Okay, cool, I'll take that one!" The girl answered excitedly.Steve helped her at the cash register, whilst earning looks from Robin. She couldn't help but like to pester him a little bit as he was desperately trying to hit on any good looking girl that walked into the rental store. But the truth was a lot of girls came into Family Video just to see (former) King Steve. Which meant more costumers. And more customers meant more money, so their boss did not complain at all.
"Have fun." Steve said to the girl as he opened the door for her to let her out.
"Thank you, see you later." She smiled and walked out.
"Yeah, see you later.... Alligator." He sighed. He ran his hand through his hair and looked at the parking lot. A petit blonde girl was hurriedly making her way over to the store.
"Well, that's about time!" Steve said to her, holding up his wrist as he tapped his finger on his watch just to exaggerate his annoyance.
"I'm sorry!" She replied. "I just overslept, okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, just get inside." He rolled his eyes.
"As if you never have." She snapped back."Morning, Stacey." Robin greeted her coworker as she was stocking the shelves.
"Mornin', Robin." Stacey said and quickly made her way behind the counter, dropping her bag and taking off her black leather jacket.
"Busy yet?"
"Nah, not yet. But it's Saturday so I'm sure it will get busier this afternoon." Robin replied. "Steve has already managed to get turned down by a girl." She grinned.
"I did not-" He tried.
"Oh, was it that girl I just saw leaving? Pity, she seemed nice." Stacey said and pinned her nameplate onto her black and white striped shirt.
"I did not get turned down," Steve tried again, holding up his hands in defence. "She is already seeing someone. So technically I didn't get turned down."
"Whatever you say." Robin grinned, earning a grin back from Stacey."If you girls decide to be mocking me all day then I will never give you a lift home again." He said threatening, giving them a stern look and placing his hands on his hips. Something that always seemed to work with his younger friends.
The girls exchanged glances and returned back to their duty, this time with a more serious look on their face.
"Oh, what about this one as our morning movie?" Stacey said and held up a VHS of Labyrinth.
"Yes, I love that one! David Bowie is amazing in this." Robin replied, nodding enthusiastically.
But as Steve turned on the tv, they were greeted by the voice of a reporter."We're in the Forest Hills trailer park in east Roane County. We don't have a lot of details now, but we can confirm that the body of a Hawkins High Student was discovered earlier this morning. Police have not released the name yet although we are told they're currently in the process of notifying the family."
"Holy shit..." Steve mumbled.
"Murdered?" Stacey repeated dumbfounded. "Who do you think it is?"
"I've no idea..." Robin answered and swallowed.
"Where did she say it happened again?" Steve asked.
"Forest Hills trailer park..." Stacey mumbled, her heart skipping a beat. "My aunt lives there."
