Chapter 16

"Hey Y/n," Oikawa calls out as you come downstairs. "Hey, you ready to go?" you ask, but he hesitates. "About that, you don't need to worry about dropping me to the airport. I'm going to meet someone, and we're traveling together," he explains, leaving you confused. "Huh? Wait, who?" you start to ask, but before you can finish, the door opens.

"Heyyyy," King greets as she walks into the kitchen. "Why does everyone look upset?" she jokes, noticing the tension in the room. You turn back to Oikawa with a questioning look.

"No one is upset, I'm just a little conflicted," you excuse, trying to process the sudden change of plans. Oikawa shrugs nonchalantly. "So, who are you traveling with?" you ask again, hoping for clarification. He simply points at King. "What? You're kidding me," you laugh, but when you see King's serious expression, your laughter fades. "King? Why didn't you tell me? And now you're going to disappear for almost three months," you express your disappointment, feeling left out.

"I know, in fairness, I was asked pretty late and forgot to tell you. I'm sorry I didn't say anything sooner," King explains apologetically, but you can't help but sigh.

You pull both Oikawa and King into a hug. "Just don't get married without me knowing too, okay?" you joke, trying to lighten the mood. King nudges your arm playfully, and you feel a mix of emotions as you wave them off goodbye. Once they leave, you find yourself feeling bored and lonely. You try calling Iwaizumi, but he immediately cuts the call and sends a text.

IWAIZUMI:
Sorry, I'm in a meeting. I'll call u later okay?
(18:00)

You didn't expect that response. Feeling a bit at loose ends, you decide to call Hina instead, hoping to spend some time together.

"Hey! Y/n, what's up?" Hina greets cheerfully.

"Hey, I was just wondering if you wanted to go shopping for your—" you start, but she cuts you off excitedly.

"EM- NOT- not today- Akaashi is actually over," she blurts out.

"Huh? He is?" you react in surprise.

"Yeah! He surprised me at my house with flowers," Hina gushes.

"Aww, I'll leave you guys to it then, okay? You both take care," you say, realizing she's busy. The call ends, leaving you alone again. No King, no Oikawa, no Hina, and Iwaizumi is unreachable. Perfect.

You remember the art sketch you started and realize you never got to finish it. "I guess that can keep me company for a while," you say to yourself before heading to your design room.

*Bzz Bzz*

Your phone vibrates against the table, waking you up suddenly. You grab your phone impulsively and see that it's 4:00 AM. Since when did you fall asleep? You look at the unfinished project in front of you and sigh. Another call comes through, and you see 10 missed calls from Matsukawa. Worried, you answer the call.

"Guys, she finally picked up," Matsukawa announces.

"I was sleeping—your call scared me awake," you groan.

"I know, but it's a little urgent."

"At what, four am?"

"Look, we're almost at your house anyways, so we'll explain once Iwaizumi is dropped off at yours."

"What? What do you mean dropped off?"

The call goes dead, leaving you filled with anxiety. A knock at the door startles you, and you rush downstairs to open it.

"For someone who was sleeping, you're dressed like you're about to stroll around town," Hanamaki jokes as he enters.

"I fell asleep at my desk earlier before I could change—" you start, but Matsukawa interrupts from outside.
